Storm damage to house and property

Wednesday we had straight line winds that have been reported to have been 70-80 mph. Kind of freaky to come home from work to this.

3 trees down completely and many large branches down all over the property. House roof will need replaced. Some siding damage. Luckily no structural damage to house or shop building.

Several inches of rain fell.... yard is drenched which will delay clean up.

Going to need to buy a larger chainsaw.

Ouch Tim...been messy around here too. How come everyone waits until July/Aug to have their huge dead oaks taken down by saws or wind?

Headin' out with my Stihl 20" in a few minutes...I could use a few more inches too...did I just type that?

Just flooding in upstate NY. Sorry to see the damage.

A lot of roads washed out around here but no wind damage.
Had a mini tornado go through our property around 6 years ago. Luckily it stayed just east of the house but mowed down dozens of trees just beyond the edge of the pasture.
Hope your insurance covers all your damage Tim.

Tim, I'm glad everyone's OK; and thankfully it's just shingles and cosmetics; not joists/walls/furniture/tools and toys!

Time to buy some more tools? Chainsaw, chipper . . . .

That sucks Tim. We had 90 MPH straight line winds a few weeks ago, fortunately the wind driven golf ball sized hail hit a few miles away from my house. Lots of people that I know lost home and car windows, as well as a bunch of siding and roof damage. We were at a baseball game when the storm came through, that was an interesting panic grabbing the kids and running to our cars.

Yea, several weeks of rain, a few gusts of wind, and this 300-year-old live oak went down on July 3rd, taking a corner of the house and my daughter's VW EOS with it

Sorry for the damage. Not a fun thing to come home to.

Buying new toys...er... tools is always good though.

As far as damage replacement goes, Owens Corning makes a few different styles of wind resistant asphalt shingles that are good to 130 mph. May be worth looking into.

Wow that sure is a spate of tough weathe going around. Tim sure glad that the damage stayed outside and didn't mess up your house or shop and goodies. Great you can keep the planes indoors.

AMA, That old live oak looks all most to have been struck by lightening , split down the middle and fallen to all sides., guess it was just its time, sorry about the damage to house and car, bummer.

Yes there is a pond and yes some other areas were flooded..... We have had over 5" of rain in about a week.

Insurance will write a check to cover tearoff and re-shingling the house roof and $1000 towards tree clean up. I will likely end up going with a steel roof instead of shingles even if it costs a tad more out of pocket.

It's a tad heavy, but a Stihl 880 would be nice to have.

Supposedly my brother in law wants to come over and cut it up for firewood, so I may just end up dragging with the tractor or Bobcat to the corner of the property where we typically burn brush. I will help cut and pile the small stuff up and then he can stop over at his leisure to cut the remaing bigger pieces into firewood. If that is the case, I might get by just using my cheap old 14" McCullouch.

Sure wood be nice (ha!) to cut a slab out of that thick part at the bottom and make a coffee table or something... know anyone with a portable saw mill?

A few weeks ago we had the same type of storms. Crazy winds and upside down hail. We had several large trees come down on all sides of our house. Luckily, none hit the house but we have hail damage to the roof on both levels. Our chain fence was demolished from tree limbs as well.

We are getting new roofing on both stories plus new siding on the second story, about 100 feet of fencing and a new roof on my shed. State Farm came out and discovered the damage to the shingles. I thought we just had the fence and debris cleanup to deal with. The SF estimate was right around $13,000.

I honestly can say I've never been in a storm that bad. Funny thing is that the sirens never went off and we had nothing but a severe thunderstorm warning. It came and went in less than 10 minutes. Whilst we were surveying the neighborhood damage, a stinkin' rainbow appeared.

Our call center is located in Warren, Ohio and they had to evacuate during the storm that wnet through there Wednesday this week.
