Gorgeous car for absolutely silly money.

Crazy money. One has to wonder if that was sold to someone that earned the money or inherited it.

Maybe it sold to the Mercedes museum.

It's called conspicuous consumption. Paying a lot for something because you have a lot to pay with. This sale will be topped by someone who wants to be more conspicuously rich than this guy.

if you're a Billionaire you've got a thousand million dollars
If you had a thousand dollars would you think hard about spending $29.00?
Probably not

Pure FUCH YOU money right there. Awesome car

I would much rather have the '57 Testa Rossa for $16 mil. But I can't even afford a '73 911S anymore, so this is all very, very moot.

Well summed up above. Conspicuous spending. Should have gone for the auction costs.

nynor 07-12-2013 11:18 PM

I heard from a friend of a big hitter that the ultimate game is to continue to out-bid someone at auctions just to dominate that another bidder. Even at a loss.
Now that's a power game.
