Vote for my friends' song for a movie soundtrack
Nothing but a flagrant plea to vote for my friends' version of "Man of Constant Sorrow" for use in a movie. My friends recorded it with sort of a Bo Diddley type feel.
Short version: 1. Go here: the competition — THE COLTER CHRONICLES 2. Scroll down a little less than half way and click the little heart like symbol under the right side of the entry by "The Startlingly Fresh Allstars featuring Tim Risbane". Backstory if you care: The movie "The Colter Chronicles" is having a contest to make a new version of an old song to be used in the movie. Jim and Terry own and operate the Startlingly Fresh record label and have been active in the local music scene for years. Jim is probably the best guitar player I have ever met in person. He plays in several groups and teaches music at the local college. Terry plays in multiple groups and does applied math as well as tutoring and teaching math at a local college. They tend to lean towards jazz, funk, soul, organ rock..... Two really nice folks.... They found out about the contest late and decided to make an entry quick. They called their friend Tim and asked him to sing while they did the other instruments and backup vocals. They recorded it in a day, battling a dead computer monitor and audio recording interface that got taken out by a lightning hit. From here I start sounding like a Fanboy. They are my friends and I like listening to their music. I am including some links in case you'd like to check them out. Here are a couple of links if you want to hear some more of their stuff. Record label website: Startlingly Fresh Records Official Website "Whistle Past the Graveyard" video by the group RJR that Jim plays with RJR on iTunes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-ci0jpMXI8 The video was made in response to the local city planning commission that let apartments get built downtown where all the music is located and then proceed to try to shut the music down due to the noise. The shadow puppets are made and performed by another local artist from the Flying Monkey Arts Center. Latest RJR album on iTunes https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/rjr/id668727028?ign-mpt=uo%3D4 My favorites are on this album are "Scare Tactics" and "The Circle Game". I'm not encouraging you to buy it, just check out the free samples on iTunes. RJR on Facebook : https://www.facebook.com/rollingjazzrevue The Trio El Camino group: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/sound-advice/id674975474?i=674975574&ign-mpt=uo%3D4 Favorites from here are "Only the Hip Survive" and "Take it Out On Me". Terry's all request band, (PleasPlease Official Band Website) but they strive to make a very different version of the song. It is as much entertaining variety show as it is musical event. When they did the 2 dimensional suits they handed out special 2D glasses to the audience. One lens was blacked out. She plays in a local big band also but I cannot remember the website. "Timothy" done in the style of the Doors anyone? "Ace of Spades" in a lounge jazz style? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPxWAF2ZoYw Guess I am just weird tonight. Yall have a nice evening and thanks for reading if you actually made it this far.
