anyone watch that show "Naked and Afraid"?

facinating!!

i cannot walk across my backyard barefooted.. naked? forget about it. i'll be all that much easier for a wild animal to eat. no pesky performance fabric to get in the way of my "soft white belly under" (trivia alert: <<---- that was Blue Oyster cults, original band name choice)

i caught a few episodes right before the season ender. it is amazing how much weight they lose! the last guy lost 42lbs in 21 days. each person gets one survival tool!! i dont know why one isnt ALWAYS a fire starter, and the other isnt ALWAYS a big knife.

one show the guy had a machete. he was starving. he found a boa constrictor. he walked way around it afraid. i would have eaten that thing!!

Each time I've gone camping for more than a night or two I've lost plenty of weight, even though I eat great in the field - MREs, rice and beans, peanut butter, etc.

Caught parts of numerous episodes off and on.
I always like when they're trying to start a fire in the middle of a monsoonal rain storm.
Last show I saw the producers had to step in and stop the show because the guy had a very badly infected foot. I always wondered about life threatening situations like that. He could've lost his leg if they hadn't stepped in. Guy was pissed off too, go figure.

I've only seen one. The girl was kind of hot, she got bit up real good by the sand flies. The guy was pretty much a dork, the one "tool" he brought were swim goggles, then he was too afraid of sharks to go in the water.

The girl brought a machete and pretty much held the whole trip together while the guy whined the whole time.

I've watched 4 or 5 shows. On the last one, they were in a swamp with snakes everywhere.
Walking in that nasty snake and gator infested water would have freaked me out.

I've watched several, every time the guy has either been a total tool, and idiot, or both... I'd put most tenderfoot Boy Scouts up against these guys in survival skills...

i would put my own boy scout skills up against them-
we did wilderness survival - built shelter, watter and trap small game for food-
in the summer and in the winter- built a snow cave and slept in it-

and i could stand to loose a couple pounds-

Great show and as said they always seem to cast a incompetent male with a super competent woman. I guess only woman know how to survive in the wilderness.
This would be a great idea for a weight loss show like biggest loser. Just drop them off in the jungle naked and see who comes out with the greatest weight loss.

Its sucks compare to the show they copied, Naked castaway. Now that was a survival show with no film crew, or medic. By himself for 60 days.

I have to agree that the women seemed far more stable and competent than the men. The men tried to be too macho.

Yup, Ed was very good. He was realistic, and smart in everything he did. Calculated and made every move carefully. By the end of the 60 days he had achieved sustainability too. I don't think most on the other show would ever get to that point.

I think that show is stupid and contrived. What's next? Naked, Afraid and Wounded?

Gimme a break.

It's not a survival situation when there's a freaking camera crew there with bottled water and a helicopter.

hahahah..nobody is gonna say it is totally real. we get that.

i'm gonna assume that a camera crew is necessary for a TV show. some narrator just announcing it over a blank screen kinda defeats the purpose.."huh, trust me folks, they survived!" would sell very little ad time.

we get it..so you just watch the news?

One of the dads for our scout troop was a SERE instructor... needless to say, we had some GREAT camping trips. No snow caves in Florida though....

Yep just to watch the rollercoaster ride of emotions and the struggles he faced by himself trying to survive.

He also did another documentary traveling along the Amazon River from one end to the next end. It was called Walking the Amazon.

I watched it and the only halfway decent looking girl was Alison Teal. All the rest were either serious granola or survival chicks. All of the guys except one were overbearing and seemed to get angry when the woman showed their worth.

Liked the concept of two people stranded and having to deal with nature and survival on their own but the whole naked thing was just a ratings grab. Most of them made some kind of clothes or covering at some point in the show anyway. Would have been better without the naked part and given a few more tools for survival. Allow them to hunt and fish and make a substantial shelter. That would have been interesting (but maybe more like survivorman.)

One of my Sons fav shows. I am fascinated that more serious injuries don't occur and that the guys do come off as pussys.
I would put my Son and any other scout up against any of those guys.
For one I know my Son can kill stuff - he does it all the time with minimal effort. I know he can build a fire. The only thing that would slow him down would be gawking at the boobies ... Father like son I guess.

Actually he did say that during one show when the rain was coming down hard and it was cold - he said that should be holding each other but then said it coil turn to sex and that would burn precious calories.

A client had a pet boa. Properly fed and housed. Gave him a nasty SMALL bite and his arm was infected for a month ! Don't blame the guy one bit to be wary of that sucker ! Their mouths have the nastiest bacteria

On one of the shows the woman picked a small pot for her item - a stroke of genius on her part - she knew they could build a fire but how you gonna boil the water??.

Interestingly enough, found it rather odd that the Louisiana swamp people rather conveniently found a small pan (out in the middle of the swamp) to boil water in -
