Let me look. Ahh, you need to do it this way.

"I don't like that way, I want to do it this way"

Well that way does not work, you need to do it this way.

"But I don't want to do it that way."

OK, do you want it to work?

"Yes"

Then do it this way.

Maybe, but that doesn't change the fact that it doesn't.

Fine, just don't ask me for help when it doesn't work.

All this thread needs is a photo of a hairy arm. It could be really big.

Our wives may be sisters. In her mind, broken = doesn't operate the way I think that it should.

i think it is a bad design. most other cars lock the doors either when you put it in drive or after the car reaches a certain speed.
to those like stomach, would you design your car to lock the doors that way if you built a car or would you do it differently? do you think ford has a good design?

just remember, i locked the keys in the first time i drove it jsut to roll up the windows because i did not know it did this. my daughters friend came over and opened the truck and turned on the radio and locked the keys in the truck, all within the first few days. i locked them in it again right after when i put 2 new batteries in it, started it and turned it off then shut the door to finish working on it.

Watching a professional locksmith is a sobering experience. Good thing the average car thief is an unskilled moron meth head.

My wifes Z had an aftermarket alarm with door locks.

I had taken it out somewhere to run a quick errand before we left for the airport to go on vacation.

Heading back to the house noticed the car was low on gas and figured had 5 minutes to fill it up for her.

I had a habit of always leaving the car running when I gassed up which my wife hates so as I was getting out of the car I turned the ignition off but left the keys.

As I was standing there putting in gas I heard it beep and lock itself.

Crap, now what?

Luckily there was a cop in the parking lot next door who slim jim'd it for me and I was only a little late getting back home and we did not miss our flight.

That was 18 years ago.

Only took one time to learn that lesson.

I have not left the keys in any car ever since.

While it very well may be a bad design it does not ever need to be a problem if you just change your habits.
