Solaire Infrared Gril
any experiences?
yup, i've got this one Amazon.com: Solaire Anywhere Portable Infrared Propane Gas Grill, Stainless Steel: Patio, Lawn & Garden ...nd absoutely love it. It only takes about 5 minutes to get ready and it is extremely easy to clean.
You're on the right track with the infra red grills. I have a TEC grill and love it.
I've owned Tecs for more than 20 years now- on my second which is only six years old. The old one I gave to a relative and it's still going strong. The best IMO.
I'm thinking of the smallest one they have - $240 and it folds up.
It would augment or replace a Weber Q grill which has seen better days... It only needs to serve 2 people, but I do need propane for this backyard location as it sits on a deck. There is a fire pit down the hill for charcoal. I see that "Tec invented IR grilling" and they have a small grill too. Any comparisons? |
Not sure how TEC compares to other IR grill makers, but you can't go wrong with a TEC. The only part that sucks is paying for it.
My house had some sort of IR grill when I bought it, no longer made. It was a honeycombed ceramic thing that apparently glowed from gas burning underneath. IIRC it fell apart from the grease drippings, so I replaced it with a traditional burner and lava rock.

my grill had an IR burner on the back for the rottisserie. that thing was awesome.
