Whose getting a new iPhone when they come ott?
Who's in? Anyone switching from another smart phone?
|
I might it depends on what's new.
I've got an iPhone 4 but I gave my staff iPhone 5's so I'm the last one wanting an upgrade. Hopefully Apple will put out something amazing as their strategy to date if minor improvements is getting a little old. |
The rumors, which are only rumors, aren't getting me too excited.
128gig storage 2gig ram Faster A7 processor Better 12MP camera with f2.0 Possibly more colors - goldish and graphite. Improved battery IOS7 Typical 'S' improvements Also the cheaper version called the 5C - but who wants cheaper? Apple is supposed to be about better, not cheaper. |
I'm changing from htc smartphone to New I phone.. Also switching from T-Mobil to At&t. Primarily for better coverage in my neck of the woods.. Tim

We have four iPhones so usually get one or two from each new generation.
We have held off on the "5" so far because I don't want to deal with one phone needing the Lightning cable and/or adapters while all the other phones, wall chargers, car chargers, and iPhone docks/players in the house, use the original 30 pin adapter. Even if the Lightning-to-USB cable didn't cost $19 and the Lightning-to-30 pin adapter $29 - meaning we'll probably spend $100-150 on cables and adapters - the hassle of having, plugging, unplugging, and losing multiple cables is not something I'm eager for. Really, Apple couldn't see the need for a USB cable terminating via "Y" in both a Lightning and 30-pin plug? Or an insert to the 30-pin female receptacle that would convert it into a Lightning receptacle? The switch to Lightning was stupid. The iPhone did not need to be any thinner. Apple has lost its defacto "standard" status in phone docks, radios, speakers, accessories. The switch was poorly supported in terms of sensibly priced adapters. The Lightning connector is the only reason why we currently have four iPhone 4's instead of a couple of iPhone 5's. |
Not me. I have a 5 and none of the newest features are enough to make me switch up.

From what I have read, there will be two versions. The 5 C is all sorts of new colors and is a cheaper version.
Apple to offer 'iPhone 5S' in new gold color and 128GB storage option, insider says http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/technology-science/technology/iphone-5c-new-specifications-features-2232424 |
The issue is, higher end smartphones like iPhone, Galaxy, etc are almost fully saturated in the US. In a few years it will be just a replacement market. I.e. no growth. Europe and Japan are similar. The smartphone growth is in emerging markets. Those carriers have resisted subsidizing devices and lower-cost Chinese smartphones are taking most of the share. Apple needs a lower cost iPhone to address that market, hence the "C".

I probably will, but just because I'm due for a new phone. Will wait until January though to see what my work status is and if I get a company phone...
|
My wife and I just recently switched from 3G Iphones to a Samsung Galaxy and a LG Pro we love them both.
|
I'm up for a new one in Jan. I've been very happy with my iPhone 4S. Not sure I'll drop the money to "upgrade."
As long as we're on the subject, Mrs. Lee and I spend $145 a month on our Verizon data and minutes plan for our two 4Ss. Is there a better deal out there? AT&T coverage SUCKS around here and we need something we can use overseas once or twice a year. |
I'll get a new phone (maybe an older iphone 5) just to get away from using AT&T

We have been buying iphones for my wifes family in India for years. They're a huge status symbol. |
Been holding off on replacing my iPhone 4 (2 year contract ended in June), hoping Apple will release the 5S this fall. Will likely go with the 5S primarily to take advantage of the 4G network speeds. (iPhone 4 was only capable of 3G).

I have also heard rumor of 120fps video capability on the 5s allowing for true slow motion. Probably not a huge feature for most but for me (as a coach) I think I will go ahead and do the upgrade from my 4s if it is true. |
No Swype.....no iPhone......for me anyway lol

Don't get me started on charging it's a daily task, for testing purposes I have a Samsung Windows phone, IPhone 4, Galaxy Tab, Nexus Tab, iPad 4, iPad Mini, not to mention all my family's gear. :D |
What is this "iPhone " thing that you speak of ??
|
I'm sick to death of Apple's control over everything, and iOS - IMO they're trying to cram too much into a small device, and it's overwhelming it. My iphone 4 has a hard time making a phone call these days. And I don't buy into the whole "2.5 years old is outdated" koolaid BS. Not on a $700 device. I'm finished with apple mobile stuff. I'm going back to blackberry.

Until Blackberry goes bankrupt, you mean.

I've actually been nosing around Android phones again. I go back and forth on OSs - iOS is more seamless, some information is easier for me to see on Android without reading glasses (for some things due to the larger screen). The iPhone 5 just works though... |
I do not want to have any phone that sends out automatic amber alerts or automated messages from "fearless leader".
