On Sunday September 15, 2013, Miss America 2014 was crowned. Who will be the new Miss America?

24 year old Miss New York, Nina Davuluri. Born in Syracuse, New York and having lived in Oklahoma and Michigan, Nina Davuluri is the first ever Indian American crowned Miss America.

When Nina was crowned Miss America, the reaction from viewers is what you’d come to expect from Americans seeing a non-white foreigner with a “weird-sounding name” on their TV screens…

They called her a terrorist, of course!

If you were to check out a lot of those folks saying vile and stupid things, you'd find they have no "followers" on Twitter. So almost nobody would see their Tweets... Unless they make comments that shock people.

There's some kind of weird phenomenon on the Internet -- every Youtube video, no matter how benign attracts nasty comments and down votes. Picture a kid in mom's basement typing furiously away. Call it a cry for help if you want.

This controversy is interesting though, because Miss Kansas was a big favorite with some. She has multiple visible tattoos... and she's on active service with the Army.

Yeah, it's very weird. Almost like a machine cranks this stuff out.

She's beautiful...but last I checked there were not any Indians (from India) involved in the 9/11 attack...hmm, could so many folks get this fact wrong? me thinks not! So that must mean that they were involved! First they take over our 7/11s, attack us on 9/11, they are the voice we hear when we dial 4/11 and I'm pretty sure India is behind the 2/11 and 6/11 issues!

Is it no coincidence that India is spelled with two i's? Like II or 11? Its all starting to make sense!

Unless you like the taste of curry and enjoy Ballywood you best move the China - last I checked India wanted nothing to do with them folk!

Ha ha! I get comments from grown adults on the street all the time. Even now. "What are you doing here? Your people bombed Pearl Harbor". Ummmm... No. That would be North Korea. "You are a communist!" No, I am not. I was born in South Vietnam and my father was Vietnamese but was part of the US Navy. People are idiots and ignorant. I don't get offended by them. I feel sorry for them. They just don't know any better. And never will.

I would not play this down as just a few idiots. You have not traveled to the backwards places in this country. There are many people living there and unfortunately now they have internet and phone connections.

I miss the days when you needed half a brain to go online.

This is also why I need to live in a diverse area. I could not deal with this type of stuff in person.
