Korean F1 ***SPOILER***

A surprisingly good race. The lead was predictable (of course) but there was some fun behind him after the safety car stints - which made it an entertaining race overall imho.

I thought the whole race weekend was great. The announcers had great side information, Hamilton ran great in early practice, great race strategies that yielded unexpected results and the weather held up. Altogether pretty cool event.
I am however tiring of all the tire talk. I wish they would make a tire that let the drivers go full noise.

The announcers tried (through technical illustration) to explain the Coander Effect as a possible reason for the different sound that Vettels car makes. They also suggested the this effect primarily creates down force around 50-60 km which may explain Vettels confidence in the car exciting corners. Earlier acceleration.

Hulkenberg rocked.

The one stat the announcers made that floored this fan of Vettel and Prost was about Alain Prost's 4 WCD. If Vettel wins his 4th this year, he will be younger than the age Prost won his first. Quite a statistic.

Fun race. Poor Webber, it seems his luck is just opposite Seb. Kimi up from 9th to 2nd, takes advantage of Grosjean's mistake (though not sure what it was) to pass as the SC came out. Hulkenberg and Sauber in front of Ferrari and Mercedes - wow. The nose drop on Rosberg's car was interesting (and spectacular).

Yawn. Another Vettel freight train.

Next season can't get here soon enough. We can only hope that the rule shakeup leaves Red Bull struggling.

It is kind of weird that Weber's car caught on fire for the second week in a row...

BTW, Henry. Small correction- it is the Coanda effect.

That's what I was thinking.... The new rules will cause Vettel to forget how to drive, Newey how to build a car and the pit crew how to do a 2.3 second pit stop.

The truth is, F1 is a team sport and the Red Bull team will be intact next year just like this year.

Hey, one can hope...

I don't think the Coanda effect explains anything about the sound of Vettel's car. Everybody is using that design and it wouldn't produce an acoustic effect like that anyway. I suspect it may be related to the mapping of the throttles and the on/off throttle fuel delivery, possibly also some cylinder cutouts. Could be several things...

Yes, very eventful race. Exciting to the end. Webber is one cool dude. Slowly getting out of the car on fire. No rush. Just a little fire..

Not necessarily. You are assuming that it will be Newey and Red Bull to come up with the best solution to the next set of rules. They didn't before the current era. Ferrari, McLaren, and Williams have all been dominant at one time or another, and are all not doing so well now. I seem to recall during the last rule change it was Brawn that had the best car, until Red Bull caught up and surpassed them the next season.

Yes, Brawn had a trick diffuser I think, Button dominated the first half of the season then held on for the championship. He didn't look quite as all-conquering then as Vettel does now, but not far from it. Even though Vettel is, I think, the better driver.

What an odd race.

Great drive by Kimi.

Hulkenberg had an excellent drive, Seeing him hold off (not hold up) two world champions was a lot of fun to watch, and the grip he got out of the corners was dam near Vettel-ish.

Mark Weber: This pretty much sums things up.

The thermal camera is awesome, the footage of Weber in qualifying leaving red rubber on the track after a lockup was pretty cool, not to mention thermal image of his car burning.

Rossberg's wing detaching was bizarre.

Generally speaking, Grosjean seems to have got his crap together.

And Hulkenberg doesn't have a signed ride for next year, does he? (Likely because he brings no money.) He's one of the few mid- or back-of-the-pack guys I'd like to see in front-running machinery, to see what he can really do.

Rumour has it that he is too heavy....something like 75kg while guys like Alonso the midget is only 55kg or so. Apparently the cars for next year are coming in heavier than expected and so will all be over the weight limit, which means that a car with a big guy will actually be heavier as opposed to just having less ballast.

still not seeing why lotus is having troubles with sponsors. they consistently beat out many teams, and have two cars on the podium, and most often, two cars in the points. i had thought that maybe kimmi was just that great and the car not so much, but roman showed today that the not only is he fast, but the car is pretty fast too.

Good racing from 2nd position on down. This runaway lead driver thing, race after race is starting to get a bit boring.

I sure hope there's a big shake up, but aerodynamic wizardry and blind faith the car will do what the designer says it will do is always going to be a hard combination to beat. I don't see anyone beating this perfect storm for years.

After the start I just skip through the race, thank you dvr.

It was good to see Varsha back, even if just for a weekend. He's solid.

I have stopped watching F1 this year.

Go over to MotoGP, it is a fantastic season. Marc Marquez is crashing the scene like the next Rossi, Rossi is competitive at last after escaping Ducati, Lorenzo and Pedrosa are riding like heroes. The bikes are leaning 60 degrees and no one is booing.
