question on Samsung ipad 2014 and Tab3 2013

I am thinking between Samsung 2014 and Samsung tab3 2013. Price diff is around $150. My question is if it worth the $150 diff? What are the differences? Of course I would spend $150 more if it's nothing to me, but that is not the case for me.
Thanks.

Which specific models? I have a Note 8.0 and am very happy with it.

Just found out that I shouldn't get samsung, I should get ipad because kids' school is using ipad and will give them homework on ipad. Now question is between ipad 2 and ipad 3. Does anyone know what is the diff between these 2 models?
Thanks.

I'd ***** and raise hell that not only are the schools not providing work in an Open and Free format, but that they have chosen the more expensive proprietary option.

That said, if you like Android devices, the tab3 is nice - at least, that is my impression after configuring mom's email client on hers.

The tablet I use is a amost 3 year old Nook Color running a pure Android release based on 4.1 or 4.2 (KitKat just came out, I'll give it a while before upgrading)

Biggest difference between them is the "retina" display on the 3.

If you are going iPad.... Might as well get the iPad air... Thinner, lighter, more processing power.

Thanks all for opinion

id10t,
raise ... my wife did. Response was that I don't have to have it. The class has 3 ipad for all students. Then we have to somehow manager time for our kids to use those ipad in the class?
From friends (developers. I am an old school one), they all like Samsung for configuring/playing with them. Out of people I asked, only those straight users like the ipad better. But well, I think I should go with their school to avoid my own headache.

porsche4life, I see that the air is around a little less than $500 bucks now. This is mostly for kids school works and some limited games, and also wife's music/movies/news/weather, etc. My work is still on PC and laptops. If I would like to go a little lower in price, is there another suitable model? If yes, which model? Or I should not at all?
Thanks

I have the Galaxy Note 10.1. It's a great tablet and works very well, I have been happy with it, had it for almost 1 year. I believe there is a newer version now, maybe the "note 2?"

Honestly though if I were looking for a new (non-apple) tablet right now I would be looking at the MS Surface 2. My only concern with this one is the limited app store, but being able to use it more like a laptop is attractive to me. The Surface seems more like a "real" computer and less like a tablet.

The Note 8.0 and the Tab 3 similar. But the Note 8.0 has a 1.6GHZ quad core processor and 2GB of RAM vs. the Tab 3 with 1.5GHZ dual core and 1.5GB RAM.

The Note 10.1 - 2014 has two quad core processors and 3GB RAM. And a MUCH higher resolution display.

I personally like the size of the 8" tablet.

A 2 or 3 will be just fine. I'm using a 3 right now and both of my parents have 2s... Still very great devices. I'm just the type of guy that is always going to by the latest gadget to be able to use it the longest....
