I'm hoping 996 GT3 prices will continue to drop, as well. Yeah, it and the Turbo models are almost as non-pretty as the M96-motored cars. But that seems to melt away once you're driving the car.

It appears to me that both the GT3 and the Turbo's bottomed out about 2 years ago. You could see VERY nice '04 GT3's in the high $40's and Turbo's in the low $40's. Now, GT3's are high $50's (if you can find one), and Turbo's are in the high $40's. I hesitated and missed the bottom, and now have been sitting watching them climb. It is possible that they come down again, especially the Turbo's, but I think the GT3's will never be in the $40's again (unless you find an ultra-high miler or one that is beaten.

I'd jump on it for the current bid price, but can't count your chickens with 7 days of bidding to go......Seems like $40K+ is the going rate for a 996 Turbo?

There's still a bunch of nice turbos in the $40k range. GT3s are scarce but still seem to be in the $50k ballpark. That's basically my dream car and I agree, I don't see them selling for less.

I'll take one in silver w/black guts, black/black would be second choice. With a 996tt that's just had its oil changed on time, you're talking about a true super car with no known mechanical weaknesses that I'm aware of. Night and day from earlier Porsche models, it's 3x stronger.

Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe 2 Door | eBay

damn you

ok, why shouldn't I buy this car? Looks like it has the LMS upgrade and is street legal/track ready.

Like I need another car...

Sadly, if I sell the two basses I have on the market right now, it would just about cover the car
That's a nice looking car. I sent him some questions earlier in the week and he never replied. Probably worth looking into if you are local.

Does the Turbo not suffer from the same IMS issues? Or does it use the same block as the GT2/3?

Turbo and GT2/GT3 all use the Metzger-based block from the GT1.

Yep. Completely different animal from an M96 car. I've yet to hear even anecdotal stories of engine failures in one.

I picked up a daily-driven '99 C2 for $18K. The PPI showed that it needed a bunch of "minor maintenance," including a transmission bearing and some spark plug tube oil seals, but nothing significant. That may seem pricey, but in my searching in the DC Metro area, everything was at least a few $K more expensive than elsewhere.

She's cosmetically imperfect, and some people may complain about the headlights, but she'll make a GREAT track car.
