Attention Photographers- Tiltall tripod find
Attention Photographers- Tiltall tripod find
My find of the day……. I was out shopping yesterday and came upon an interesting item. It is an early model Tiltall professional camera tripod. I’ve never really seen one before, but when I saw it setting there on the floor I knew it must be something special. So I bought it and brought home and looked it up on the web. Let me just say not many tripods have blogs in their honor but this one sure does….. Tiltall Tripod Support I thinking it’s an early model because it has thumb screws instead of knobs for two of the locking collars and I can only find photos of them with knobs. It is in pretty good shape, but it appears to have a worn or missing bushing for the center column so a previous owner applied mylar tape to increase the size of the shaft. I’ll be able to figure something else out which will work better than the tape. It has no dents or real damage too it. It also has these cool feet that have spikes in them that are threaded and protrude when you turn the feet. Here's a few pics…… ![]()

Oh yea, you must be wondering where I found it and how much I paid for it, right?
Well I was at Northern Tool to begin with and just down the street is a Goodwill store. Whenever I’m over there and I see a parking space I’ll drop in for a quick look see like I did yesterday. There it was sitting on the floor along with some VCR’s, worn out speakers, microwave oven and a drum set. The price? I’ll let the label tell the story……. ![]() Ok so it is not a huge find and I won’t be getting rich by flipping it on eBay but I got a high quality piece that I would probably never buy otherwise and can use right now and I paid practically nothing for it. They seem to be priced on EBay between$70-$140. This will come in very handy when I head down to Sebring this coming weekend for the HSR Sebring Historic races.

Cool find! Every room in my house has items I've picked up at my local GW and/or garage sales. It's great when you find something that you actually need and can use for a fraction of its value. AZ GWs have taken to researching prices on many of the items they take in. It's a lot harder to find a bargain. They still sneak through but not like a couple of years ago.
Your tripod would have been priced at $50-$80 in the store where I shop.

Nice Paul!
Oddly enough...there's a Goodwill store next to my Harbor Freight (Daytona Beach). I'll have to pop in there next time....and see what is available....thanks for the head's up!

All aluminum. Some shots I used the flash, others I didn't.
It stands 70" tall! Here are the feet with the retractable spike....
