I collect old u.s. Paper money/currency

I belong to a few forums and I like to get the word out that I collect old paper money. If you folks happen to have any kicking around shoot me a PM. I am happy to appraise it for free. I am also willing to make an offer for which I will pay for in advance if you have enough posts.

Here are a few examples of what I am looking for but there are a few dozen different types so if you have something please post a picture here or shoot me a PM and I will give you my text number or email so you can provide me with pics.

I think you forgot the examples.

What are the examples you're looking for?

Nostril Cheese 11-29-2013 04:57 PM

These are not the examples you're looking for.

Based on what I'm seeing, I'd say that's only worth fifty cents. Come on, it's oooold! I'll give you a dollar which should cover your shipping.

masraum 11-29-2013 05:16 PM

The next two are even older so worth less. I'll send you a two dollar bill for the lot of them.

this sort of local monetary system must have been a giant PITA.

They weren't good from state to state? It says "National Currency" on it.

Oh, and by the way, I'm collecting current bills. I have a different system of appraisal, just take whatever is in your wallet and send it to me, I will tell you what I bought with it.

pavulon 11-29-2013 05:41 PM

I won't claim to be any authority on it but it is my understanding that if a bank folded, its notes were worthless. Perhaps those notes were different than those pictured above.

dan88911 11-29-2013 05:54 PM

Hey were can I get a 10,000 dollar bill?

abisel 11-29-2013 05:59 PM

I believe the date on this is 1858 but can't really tell. The ink has faded. So has the ink for the number and signatures.

I am happy to respond to your question in a mature responsible way. I hope you can appreciate that.

There is a grading system which has been established. So each banknote being unique will have its own grade depending on its exposure to circulation if any at all.
As a side note depending on rarity grade affects value only slightly. If it's a common banknote grade means everything.

Hey I know where you can get one. In all honesty they cost $100,000 and up depending on grade aka condition.

I can also put you in touch with that same dealer for a $5000 bill as well. Similar price platform.

So hey I hope that answers you question.

Thank you for posting your piece. It is in fact what is called an obsolete. These were issued before a true federal banking system had been established. The majority of these banks were fraudulent and failures.

I would also like to point out the absence of a treasury seal.

Do you have any others?

If so please pm me with your email. I can make you an offer if your interested.

Again thank you. I enjoyed seeing it.

Wow really. I knew the big bills were a lot more than face value but 10 times face? Wow. I guess they are really rare. How much is a $1,000 bill?
