where's Vash?

Haven't heard from him in a while. His beautiful wife must have poped out a kid to take his Pelican time away from him?

sc_rufctr 12-13-2013 04:50 AM

Good question. I miss his camping/hunting threads.

I'm not one to send PMs usually, but I sent one his way (with no response) several weeks ago around the time I started a thread about hunting (overpopulated) deer, and after looking up Cliff's last post. I think he got fed up with some folks giving him crap about hunting. Folks are "passionate" about many things on this board (nuthin' wrong with that), but it sometimes just gets out of hand. Life's to short to "sweat the little chit", and methinks he decided PPOT wasn't worth it any more. Our loss imo :(

ps: I even enjoy the posts of the folk(s) (can't remember the details) of the guys giving Vash a bunch of crap...it's just the nature of "internet spats" where people aren't interacting face-to-face....wouldn't happen in real life imo....

If that is the case then the folks in question should feel pretty damned ashamed of themselves. Cliff is one of the genuinely good guys in this community and I always enjoyed his posts. When I purchased my first Porsche he went out of his way to help a stranger in KS fix a broken door handle, taking time to fetch a part for me in SF. When he drew me for Pelican secret Santa last year, he sent me an awesome multi-tool.

While this is a great BBS, we still have quite a few folks that are pretty tough from behind a keyboard but I suspect quite chickenschit in real life. If you wouldn't say it in person, don't say it on the internet.

I talk to Vash regularly and will see him next weekend at our annual BAP get-together. You hit the nail on the head, KC911.

I had the good fortune to meet Vash and Burnin' Oil for lunch a year or so ago.

It is a shame they have both walked; immensely funny and interesting, those two.

Great guy & I always enjoy his wacky posts, but, leaving all your friends behind just because someone is being tough on you from behind a keyboard? I don't get that at all.

I totally agree... a shame...

I am not nor will never be into the sport but I respect the right of others to do so... hunting is part of our history and heritage for heavens sake!

What makes this form so fun and interesting is the diversity of the members.

/\/\/\/\Lucky you, Paul! I'd like to meet Burnin' someday...love his sense of humor. Hopefully Cliff and I make it out this spring for pigs...an asset to this community for sure!

If you guys ever need an extra gun, let me know! Vash, too!

Too bad it has to come to this. I miss the wacky things he write about plus, who the heck makes fun of themselves? People seem to have to impose their stupid opinion often behind the key board. It must be a control thing that's lacking in real life?

recycled sixtie 12-13-2013 08:52 AM

I miss Vash too. His character comes through well. It is easy to get discouraged by some of the comments because folks disagree with you. You gotta hash through the comments and some comments are constructive and some are destructive if you let them get to you. He may just need a break from this forum. He may be on the hunters' forums more where he is not preyed on. Who knows....

Certainly not defending the ill-behaved, but if this stuff becomes anything other than a relaxing and informative pass-time, perhaps departure isn't a bad thing. This is the cyber-world and it's a shame when people are rude, but it's also a shame that folks will sometimes take it too seriously.

The anti hunting tongue-lashing Motion gave me shut me down too. He basically made me out as a bad dad because I was teaching my kids to hunt. That really hurt so decided this place wasn't worth it

I was going to ask the same question, as to where he's been. I enjoyed reading his posts.

I just looked that thread up. Really? A tongue lashing? I suggest you re-read it again.

What a remarkable lunch. I really miss Vash, and always enjoyed Burnin' Oil. Seahawk, I hope you don't have plans to dump us.

How do we know for certain Vash hasn't gone all feral mountain man and living in the forest with nothing but a loin cloth and a really big knife? Living off moss, raw squirrel meat, and jumping wild pigs, stabbing them in the throat and drinking their blood? It could happen!

Hmmm, this does seem plausible

look 171 12-13-2013 01:27 PM

he already been there, done that. I thought you already knew.
