Pay Pal rant

I sold an item for $625.00 on ebay and, of course, was forced to use Pay Pal...which I hate. Now Pay Pal tells me that since I'm not an 'established seller' (I have sold before) that my money is going to be held for three day past the receipt of the item by the buyer. I am livid and have talked to Pay Pal twice about this....with NO satisfaction.

If there were a way, I've tried, to put my email address in a communication to the buyer I would use other payment methods... They seem to be able to detect normal coded ways of doing this....

End of Rant..

No tears shed for ebay or PayPal. They are a rip off. On the other hand that money hold saved my bacon once when I bought an expensive item on ebay that was packed very poorly and literally busted out of the packaging enroute. The USPS had the balls to deliver an empty shredded box in a plastic bag.

Emailed seller who said "not my problem". Emailed ebay and they said I would have my money back in a few days. I was happy.

Actually, the email and money was from the seller and ebay. I guess ebay sent Guido over to talk to him.

I've been through this too Mark. Sold a guitar on Ebay to fund another purchase and by the time PP released the funds, the guitar I had my eye on was gone. Ebay is all about BUYER protection, just know that going in.

I guess I do understand that situation. I had UPS do the packing which was so stated in the ad on ebay. If there is any way to communicate with a buyer outside of ebay I'd like to know it. Until then I refuse to use ebay or PP ever again... I'm just tired of their crap and rip off...and can't stand my own rage over this either...

I don't think it used to be that way... I'm done with both now...

ebay needs some proper competition.

PayPal has been good to me...

Drdogface 12-28-2013 10:26 AM

Well, Art me too if I'm not an ebay seller..

These are businesses that have a right to make money. If you want to use them, play by the rules, pay your dues and have no problems.

What his sounds like is you want all the exposure and features of eBay without paying for it? You're receiving value, why don't you want to pay?

bell 12-28-2013 10:30 AM

I complained about this last year. ..... expect your money in 2-3 weeks. ...
Keep an eye on the tracking info, iirc that's what it follows....
I no longer sell on ebay for that reason.....

I don't mind them making money! I don't like them making it twice but I REALLY don't like them holding my money for three weeks...that is my real issue ..or didn't you read my OP

spuggy 12-28-2013 11:02 AM

They're holding your money because they've got no (or not enough) reason to trust you, and don't want to be holding the bag if the sale goes sour.

They don't hold my money on a sale for 3 seconds, much less 3 weeks.

Of course I read it or I wouldn't have bothered replying. They never hold my money and history shows that the vast majority of the deals that go wrong are caused by the seller. Its good business not to trust sellers who don't trust them. You could easily fix your situation, but you chose not to fix it

I buy and sell a lot of guitar parts for a little extra income. Pay Pal has been a godsend in getting things done. Always a good experience. There was only one time where I had to resort to filing a claim. Money was back in my account in two days.

There is no way to fix it other than selling often enough...I don't need to do that..

bell 12-28-2013 01:25 PM

And is not just selling often, it's selling allot of the same category of things. ....
I had a 2 hour discussion with an eBay person about this. ....
There is no set guideline, just rediculous parameters. ...
My rating had been 100% positive over 10 years, but because I don't have 10 auctions a week I'm a risk...pfffftttt......f ebay....

nynor 12-28-2013 01:33 PM

again, ebay needs some competition.
