Well, changing her name to Chambers was apt.

Scott Watkins 01-20-2026 01:42 PM

Netflix.....'Red Rocket'
A movie that shows the under-belly of America....very entertaining and well acted.

"Netflix.....'Red Rocket'

Funny one! And, down the street from us.

stevej37 01-22-2026 10:24 AM

^^^ Have you seen it already? It didn't look very promising in the first 10 minutes...but it got better.
The main character did a great job with his part.

I've got a 'Red Robin' down the street.:D

Scott Watkins 01-22-2026 10:37 AM

Yes sir we watched a year or two ago and thought it was quite funny, and the fact we live not far from, made it hit close to home.

stevej37 01-22-2026 10:52 AM

^^^ Ahh...I see.
There were some real 'characters' in this movie.
I knew a guy in HS that could have been the main character in real life....always looking to scam someone.:)
.

Scott Watkins 01-22-2026 01:28 PM

Steve, thinking how funny it was I just added to the queue to watch again haha.

In a similar vein "The Beast" from 1988 about a soviet tank and its crew which gets isolated from its battalion in Afghanistan.

"The Croupier" with Clive Owen is one of his earlier flicks and pretty damn good

For some historical action--more series than movies

The "Horatio Hornblower" series for nautical buffs

"Sharpe's Rifles" with Sean Bean set during the Napoleonic Wars

'The Forgiven' on Netflix
Ralph Fiennes and Jessica Chastain in a thriller in the Moroccan Desert.
Slow moving, but good.

Casablanca on TCM...Claude Rains......

yellowperil 01-24-2026 06:20 AM

Watched THE RIP last night, awful, ....perhaps just me.

stevej37 01-24-2026 06:34 AM

^^^ I started watching The RIP three diff times. Never got past the 10 minute mark...won't try again.
I agree with you.

yellowperil 01-24-2026 06:47 AM

I thought Matt Damon and Big Ben Affleck were much much better than that. Again it was awful.

sc_rufctr 01-24-2026 06:47 AM

Watched THE RIP also. Overly long with some really dumb stuff. The story was interesting but some smaller details stood out. Like getting shot in the leg but not being rushed to hospital??? She just limped around until the final count, hand over and ending.

Also... Is this just me or: The Cartels somehow seemed reasonable and decent? Like since when?
