Climate Change Comes to Portland
Ain't been over 20 deg for 2 days now. A few inches of snow with more on the way tonight.. Good thing I laid in a cord of fire wood last month.
My crate motor is late....but that too is good. Getting it up to the shop (or just the garage) with snow on the ground would be a real stinker. Monday in the rain is gonna be bad enough.

And this has been the driest winter in recent memory, with hardly any rain for months and the state (OR, that is) on the brink of a drought declaration during January.
Strange weather up here. My 75 y/o neighbor, born and lived here all his life, says the last 15 years have been most definitely not how Oregon weather was before.

I've lived all my life (only 68 years) in the NW.....Portland area since 75.
"Normal" for the NW (if one leaves out the grays) is abnormal elsewhere......I'm used to it. Back when I was a kid, my dad knew the chief metroroglist at Sea Tac. This fella said that new hires were sent up there to learn to forcast the weather....cause it was the toughest station in the service/country. One weather ship 600 miles off Tatosh island for observations. My observation is that one remembers the hot periods & the cold peroids best.

I'm hoping the weather calms down by Monday. I'm driving over the pass from CA to Medford around 11 AM Monday.

Climate change in Oregon will include further summer droughts, more extreme weather events, more flooding, lower snowpack, more forest fires, more insect infestations, loss of some seafoods due to ocean acidification & invasion of pest species, need for more irrigation, and species extinctions and extirpations. Should be fun. |

Yes. Weather is weird. More extreme than in the past. Nice to have sun in the winter this year.
