Hah! My dad had a pile of Sunbeam electric mowers that we had to rob for spare parts, and a cord with at least a dozen spots of electrical tape. Hated that thing!

They looked just like this:

We used a B&D electric for about ten years. Had a 100' cord and the trick was always to "work away" from the plugs. We never had a problem with running over cords.

What ended the electric for us was my wife's propensity to plant trees and shrubs. With each new sapling, there was one more thing to get around. Finally I went self propelled gas, because the cord got to be a PITA.

If our lawn was small with no (or few) obstructions, I would do the corded thing again. No gas to haul, no batteries to recharge....

Today I went to Lowes and bought the 21 inch corded Kobalt unit. Took about 5 minutes to assemble, mostly getting it out of the box.

I have not cut my Lawn for about a month and parts were 9+ inches long. It was damp as well. When slow and cut twice once at a high setting and again at my lower target height.

No drama. Just cut grass.

Thanks for the followup Harry.

I think you made a good choice, FWIW.

Happy mowing!
