The Pelican in Stone

Still working on it but getting close, needs some finals, probably about 14"-16" tall in marble, the rough natural side. the other side is smooth. Some clean up final shaping, sanding and polishing left. Should be done next week but I wanted to post a picture anyway.

Is that all hand work or do you use electric tools like a dremel etc? I have always found work in stone fascinating, that looks like it will be a beautiful piece!

Mostly hand chiseled, dremels are pretty small for this, I used air tools and hand chisels.
But, now that I look at the pictures I see things that have to change, usually happens, I see it better when I take pictures of it. I am going to open it up around the bird some, especially on the bottom and around/under the feet, give it some freedom. Up at the back of the neck, open that up, it doesn't need to be so form fitting. I did that on purpose but I don't think it looks that good now.
and OW Puppy, Wayne can do anything he wants, if he want's.

Thank you for the interest.

I don't really keep track, I'm not as quick as some and in the end I won't like my hourly pay. but ok, I have been working on it for three, four days, not all day ever.

Every project is that way lol, my cafe racer is either going to be a 100 000 dollar bike or my time is worth about 50 cents an hour lol.

Looks like it will be a great piece -

One of the things I learned was to look at it in a mirror - it gives you a whole different perspective and it is easier to critically look at the piece then.
