RIP Harold Ramis
 

Always enjoyed his films, more so as a director than an actor. Never had a chance to work with him, I've heard he was a very nice guy from those that had. RIP and thanks for the laughs.

Wow....a damn shame.....one of the best. Recently showed "The making of Caddyshack" with Harold narrating. VERY talented and will be missed.

I was watching "Analyze This" the other day with Billy Crystal and Robert DeNiro, funny as heck! HR had a great feel for comedic touch.

I always thought he was so funny, and seemed like such a nice guy. Loss of a great talent, same league as Mel Brooks, Carl Reiner, Sid Caeser even.

His humor has played well across generations, hard to do, sure sign of talent.

As a child of the 80s, I grew up watching his films. He will be missed.

He also directed "Groundhog Day" - one of my favourite comedies.

“Deeply saddened to hear of the passing of my brilliant, gifted, funny friend, co-writer/performer and teacher Harold Ramis. May he now get the answers he was always seeking,” Aykroyd said in an email.

Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman also released a statement to EW about his friend’s passing:

“The world has lost a wonderful, truly original, comedy voice with the passing of Harold Ramis,” Reitman said. “He possessed the most agile mind I’ve ever witnessed. He always had the clearest sense of what was funny and how to create something in a new clever way. He was very generous about making everyone around him look better and smarter. Harold had an extraordinary impact on my career and I loved him like a brother. My heart goes out to his children, and his lovely wife, Erica. He will be profoundly missed.”

What a shocker, RIP.

The Kubrick of comedy. His first screenplay was Animal House. His first directing gig was Caddyshack. Then Ghostbusters. Then Groundhog Day. Then Analyze This. Most guys would kill for just one of those credits. A brilliant writer/director/actor who didn't have to drop f-bombs or do crazy physical comedy to get laughs. Smart, measured, and a deft touch. God Speed.

What a great talent he was... Caddyshack, Stripes and others are timeless classics. There is so much background humor in them that you need to watch them a number of times to get it all.

Rodney Dangerfield is walking into Bushwood with his Chinese friend and tells him off the cuff.... "Hey Wang, don't tell them you're Jewish I hear the place is restricted". Clearly "Wang" is not Jewish.... I don't know but that line always makes me laugh... and the always classic "I've often though of becoming a golf club"

RIP he will be missed.

I was truly saddened by the news when I heard it last night.

We all think of his brilliant work from the late 70's, 80's & 90's, but even after he moved more to directing, his comedy acting genius shows in movies that are now appearing frequently on cable, like "Knocked Up" (Ben's dad) and "Walk Hard" (L'Chaim).

I'll have to check my show program, but I may have actually first seen him as a member of a touring "National Lampoon Show" performance (at Cornell University) in the mid-70's!

I will forever remember "Doe...Ray.......Egon!" and the smirk on his face.

In the last scene you can hear his unmistakable voice off-camera as one of the police officers at Wally World.

Dr. Egon Spengler - RIP

Holy crap! I just watched an episode of Veronica Mars that quoted this and totally missed the reference. :)

I really like Ramis' work, especially Groundhog Day. I only just heard that he and Murray fell out during the shooting and hadn't spoke since, until Murray visited him shortly before his death (apparently dragged there by brother Brian). It's a shame they missed out on so many years of friendship.
