"Fargo" on FX tonight

Pretty good reviews, some really good people in it. Following the format of True Detectives (recently on HBO),i.e. there will be 10 episodes on this story line using this cast.

Who gets to be in the wood chipper?

Is this the series with Billy Bob?

I think it was well done. ........Looking forward to next week. ....

I watched it. Well done till the last scene where they pan out to show the mountains in the background. I'm betting the director has never been to Fargo. :)

Man, that scene when Lester strikes his nagging wife in the head with a hammer was tough to watch! Thornton's character is awesome!

+1 I've only been to Fargo once when I was young but from what I remember, the scene in the movie where Steve Buscemi is hiding the money and looking both directions down the road at the same flat, straight, boringness was just about spot on.

I liked it, but it looks like a far cry from the original movie. The hammer scene seemed not credible given the character development given so far. I think the Billy Bob haircut was a bit of a ripoff from No Country for Old Men. Enjoyable character, though.

Shot in Calgary. Heck, "Battlefield Los Angeles" was shot in Shreveport, La. They can do a lot with CGI these days, but apparently can't erase mountains out of the wide shot.

Next time I'm down that way I'll try and remember to bring my camera. The old adage "It's so flat you can see the dog running away for 3 days" comes to mind. :)
