Canadian pharmacy?

Just got a prescription for some rather expensive medication, and just wondering if anyone on here has good luck with ordering from Canadian pharmacies. If so, which ones?

Obviously I do want to be careful here, and only order from a reputable place.

I've used this place and had a good experience.

Wow - this statement from the ElderLawAnswers link above from GWN7 - 3% ??

"According to Consumer Reports, the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP), which accredits online drugstores in addition to representing state pharmacy boards across the U.S., reviewed more than 8,300 online pharmacies in July 2011 and just over 3 percent appear to be sound, i.e., not "rogue" operations."

Not surprising at all. One reason everyone says to be careful when going that route. Hard to know what you are getting.

Try Prices, Coupons and Information - GoodRx for a coupon.

They have them for my sons meds.

One of his is $180 a month.

goodrx always has a coupon that gets it down to $70 at local pharmacies like Walgreens and CVS.

I've purchased some stuff from kiwi drug in NZ. Great transactions. May want to see if they have what you need.

Note that "on line pharmacies" and the Canadian pharmacies asked about in the OP aren't the same thing.
There are several websites where consumers monitor online pharmacies and report the bad ones. I wouldn't order online without consulting it. Like everything on the web, some of the review sites are scams themselves, so you have to be careful.

Back in the Wild West days of internet pharmacies people made a ton of money until the government at the bequest of two groups (doctors and brick & mortar pharmacies) changed the rules (in Manitoba). I'm not sure but here I believe you need to see a Dr. here who will write your script to be filled by a pharmacy. I know there are drug bus tours that come up for a weekend. The tour company takes you to the Dr. he "see's you" and your scripts are sent to a pharmacy and picked up and payed for by the tour operator so you don't have to leave the casino.

This is a interesting article on one of the "listed" places in my first posting. I inspected (fire inspection)this operation when they first started out. At the time they had two units in a strip mall. A year later I went back and they had taken over almost the complete strip mall.

" A Winnipeg-based internet pharmacy, believed to be Canada's biggest, has been ordered by U.S. officials to stop marketing drugs to American customers through 3,700 websites registered in different countries."

ALL Canadian pharmacies, online or otherwise MUST have a pharmacist on the premises for dispensing prescriptions. The pharmacist also has to check EVERY prescription before it leaves the premises. It's the law, and one not taken lightly here.

I'd be more worried about counterfeit stuff.....as that seems to be the new game. Not even licensed pharmacists can tell a fake from the real deal. But this is an international problem, and not one found only in Canada.

Hmm...I picked up a business card for goodrx at my doc's the other day. Might have to check it out.

my wife has many very expensive meds and is on medicare. When she enters "the donut hole" the price of her drugs goes through the roof. When that happens she orders from Canadadrugs.com and the prices are much much less than in the US. We have had no problems at all and receive the same drugs that she would get here in the US.

I tried ordering from a Canadian pharmacy once.... the order was shipped from India.

GWN7 01-05-2016 06:25 PM

Quite a lot of medications are manufactured in India.

creaturecat 01-06-2016 10:56 AM

lots of reputable ones in Canada.
i would say that the odds of being cheated are non-existent, using the recommendations presented here.

To me that one sounds and smells like a scam, but because of the legal troubles of one Canadian online outfit, most legit pharmacies now are likely fine.
The one that got in trouble wasn't checking it's sources with due diligence and it's history.

I used to order pet meds from a US site, but the manufacture put a stop to it.
I now order them from a Canadian online site, the meds come from Australia.

Mine came the same way... chances are if you are ordering from Canada they are getting generics for India anyway, they might just be doing a drop ship.

What I got looked legit.

Get mine from canadadrugs.com. Made by Bayer in Britain. Very reasonable prices and shipping.

Got their name from my California MD.
