NFL sued for not allowing 49ers/Seahawks tickets to be sold to certain states

I figured this was coming. What does the brain trust think...the guy have a chance?

San Francisco 49er fan sues NFL for $50M over Seattle Seahawks playoff tickets - ESPN

It does seem strange they can discriminate like that, without having a decent reason.

And the damages would be?

If they don't sell Dr Pepper in Alaska can you sue them? No. There is no legal obligation to sell your 'product' anywhere.

No. It's a completely bogus suit. There is no cause of action for "economic discrimination". He's trying to shoehorn his claim in under some consumer protection section of credit card regulations. It will take a while but the suit will be bounced.

If he was claiming some sort of antitrust violation, he'd have a claim. But when the tickets get sold at face value, just not to him, he doesn't even have an antitrust/price fixing claim. He's a fanatic who gives sports fans a bad name and he hired the type of lawyer who gives lawyers a bad name.

95% of lawyers give the other 5% a bad name...

I wonder what his angle is? Seeking attention? I don't believe it's money that he's after. Season tickets to drop it?

Lawyers are advocates who are paid to do what their client asks them to do. The fan is looking for attention. The lawyer got a big retainer up front as compensation for looking like a fool in front of the entire country.

The Real Super Bowl Question: Should The NFL Be A Nonprofit? - Forbes

"because the NFL relies heavily on public subsidies and money from taxpayers to build stadiums i"

This is the only part I care about. I'm sick of wealthy NFL team owners slurping at the public trough.
