1971 M Benz 280SE Parts W109
I am helping a friend do a refresh on his 1971 280SE 3.5 Cabriolet. The left rear quarter has a little rust at the bottom of the wheel arch. I am going crazy trying to find repro body panels. The dealer can get me an entire quarter for 3k, that's not happening. Any of you MB guys know where to find body panels for this car? TIA

If it's only a small amount of rust and isolated, I'd have someone good patch it. Cut out the rust and fabricate a piece of new metal in. I've had it done lately on a car and the result was fantastic.
The way that those cars were made, especially that model, you don't want to cut and replace an entire quarter panel unless it's unavoidable. Those are now ~$200k cars in mint restored condition.

I figured that we would have to shape a repair piece, no biggie. I figured that someone had to make repair panels. The car is a driver, it needs to be refreshed. My buddy does not want to spend the $ to do it the way I'd like to see it done, but that's his choice. I can't believe how much this car has appreciated. Thanks
