Malt Vinegar
Malt Vinegar also called Alegar.......Wife and Daughter love this stuff on fish and I CAN'T stand it. I hate the smell of it and God forbid it ever hits my lips. Do I need help?
Nope. I don't even understand a sour taste added to perfectly good fish. I hate it too.
I like it. Good with fries, too...
Love it on fish , french fries, hoagies, mmmmmmmmm.
love it.
adding an acid to food really amps up the flavor..not just the sour flavor. but i dont understand the chemistry. |
Malt vinegar sucks. White vinegar works on fish, french fries, pickles, de-scaling Rinnai heaters . . .

I put it on fries all the time. Never actually on the fish, maybe I will try that next time.
its good on fish and fries...I also mix a cup of cider vinegar in a bottle water and drink it...
With fish & chips I'm guilty of pouring it on until the fish is soaking with it. Then I'll put tons of salt on it. I love the taste that way. I don't treat any other food in that manner. I also like a little malt vinegar on the fries.

This should be a poll.
Fish, chips, salad, subs. I drown it! |
I only like it on breaded fried fish. Same as lemon, I only use it on oily fish. The acid helps cut the oil in both cases. A good mild fish grilled or pan fried in olive oil doesn't need anything but maybe a little salt.
Love it on Fish & Chips, or on french fries !
I like it on fries...

Love it on beets along with some butter and a lot of pepper.
Put it in a spritz bottle and lightly coat the food.
