They're just dreaming. Do any of those cars ever sell?

It's comical to read the ads.

I like the $139,000 RSA. :D

Just because a guy has money doesn't mean he has a lick of sense. There are plenty of trust fund babies and asian/middle eastern guys who buy toys on a whim. Zero research.

javadog 08-16-2014 06:19 AM

Some of the better cars do sell for more money than you guys think is reasonable. You are a little out of touch with the market. I'm talking about the nice cars, not the average ones.

That's the way it is.

With the current state of the market, my next Porsche is going to be a Cessna.

Salespeople are idiots. Unfortunately what makes them so is that enough of the general populace are bigger idiots and therefore able to be taken advantage of.

I prefer to think that these are guys whose wife told them they need to sell their Porsche and they said, "yes dear, but let me drive it while it's for sale" and then lists it at these very reasonable prices.

I did this with my MG-TF 51 years ago! :p

Like it or not the air-cooled market has taken off.

You know, there are several non-alcoholic brands on the market that are just as tasty as the real thing.

so you would pay 20 k for a converted 912?
90k for a 930? really?

Por_sha911 08-16-2014 05:47 PM

Value of an item is based on what someone out there is willing to pay.

Pristine and original air-cooled cars are sky rocketing. Remember when you couldn't give away a 914? Have you noticed what's happening to them now? I've been told the same thing happened to 356's. Years ago they sold for a song.

john70t 08-16-2014 06:49 PM

Have you looked at new car or grocery prices these days?
That is called 'inflation'.
I'll stop there.

Just calling it like I see it.

afterburn 549 08-17-2014 04:25 AM

I see a lot of these on C.L. Ebay and then back on here.
That tells me something.

javadog 08-17-2014 06:16 AM

What you don't see are the really good cars. Those generally are sold under the radar. No Craigslist, no Ebay, etc.
