918 fire
Since it was at a gas station, I'm thinking static electricity spark rather than anything wrong with the car.
NOOOOOOO! First Porsche 918 Spyder Burns To Ground In Gas Station Fire |
The car was delivered last week to Mike Wekerle, a local financier. The local Rennlist boys have been seeing it & posting pictures. A Toronto report says: "Witnesses say the gas overflowed and ignited from the exhaust heat. No injuries were reported."

“He was pumping gas and it overfilled and caught fire,” said Suren Thanearajah who was working at the station Sunday and saw the unfortunate situation unfold from inside the station.
Hmmm. JR |
Wonder how the exhaust is routed in consideration of the fuel filler. With it exiting out the top of the engine bay, there will be a lot more of these if overflowing gas enters the engine compartment and directly on to the exhaust manifold. Hmmm.

I just wonder if the batteries make for a totally different towing and storage problem.

Before Picture
I walked out of the Toronto Ritz heading for meetings downtown last Tuesday morning and spied a beauty parked out front. My guess it's the same car in much, much happier times !!!!

I guess TIME CAPSULE 918s will be all too common.
For sale, still with original gas. Fuel cap never unscrewed. |
I think we need more pictures to determine the hotness level here.
