Rained heavy Friday night so the beach was soaked, not to mention the tide coming and going. Sat was over cast and real damp. Around 3:00 the sun came out.
Sunday sunny high around 66 with 30mph winds. Behind the wheel. Sat run https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dd-kwYqBH-c Sunday run https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dd-kwYqBH-c

I went to last years race. What a cool event! .
Was pissed I couldn't make this years, due to a prior commitment.

We've put it on the calendar for next year and already have the hotel rooms reserved. One of the most unusual events I've ever attended and diversity of everyone attending and participating was the full spectrum. Wildwood was the perfect location. Hadn't been there in almost 40 years and couldn't get over how deep the beach is; must be 1/4 mile from the boardwalk to the ocean. Not a bad apple to be found and the whole weekend was just about the cars, cycles, and our common enjoyment centered around them. A bit more organized over last year probably due to the major sponsors.
Friday night before the party and the race, there was a guy we met from western PA in the hotel garage parking lot having his letters painted on and tweaking his car which he had build in 6 weeks from parts laying around the shop. It was a single seat with a ford engine in it. He had a rough start at first, but by the end of the day Sat he was in the top 10 or so. Another guy we came across was last years winner doing an engine transplant in the parking lot. It was just awesome. Don't remember exactly what the problem was but he was ditching his 6 for a 4. He drove it like he stole it the rest of the weekend. Keep an eye on you-tube, there should be plenty more videos posted.

Those are wickedly cool vehicles and a truly artful crowd.
I will have the privilege to hang out with some of the like, Harley Gurus, this weekend at a private event. Very excited about it. :P

Thanks for posting these for us, Robert... very cool stuff.
Wow... a mid-engine... if you have any photos of that thing with the engine exposed, please post them. THAT is a thing of beauty. I'm gonna have to look for it in the YouTube videos. Was the panel covering the radiator there to help the engine get up to temp because it was cold and was it left on the whole time?

Heh heh... looks like some gentlemen took off when the girl jumped and some went when the flag was on the downstroke.
Saw that #67 in the second race in this video... did you beat him at the end? I couldn't tell.

smoked him! I know it's hard to tell most eyes were on the flag girl.
#67 had the cover on all day, not sure about Sunday, but I think so. The reason may have been just aesthetics, that and keeping the sand, rain and ocean water out of it to a small degree. Next year's show should be this same weekend, but stay tuned to their website (above). I'll get back to you on the hotels. Most of the ocean front hotels had vacancies, the ones off the beach were less expensive and most were all booked up. Many had parties with live bands, free pizza & beer. Many parking lots were being used for last minute repairs. Not much sleeping going on, although I guess a few folks did.

not to worry, you wouldn't be alone towing. Almost as many trailers as there were cars and cycles.
Hotels are listed here. The event was almost directly across from the Starlux. We stayed at the Aztec, but we needed a suite, some places do and don't offer them. Only down side is we walked a lot! The hotels on the beach side tended to be bigger and hotels like the Aztec are smaller and you get to know your neighbors and cars/cycles. Many were throwing parties with free pizza & beer...very cool!! The Race Of Gentlemen 2014 | Wildwood, NJ | Contact
