Thoughts on Triumph Rocket 111

If you guys have been following my meanderings ,
Thanx !
What is the Borg of thought on the BIG Triumph?
Good, bad? reliability , Support for any problems?
Does it go though a turn? Or does it have to be herded and counter steered through a turn like a H.D.?
thanx!
PS - I looked at the Duc, but I see no way to make it a two up machine .

What Duc? You can't be talking about the Diavel.

I cannot speak to the rocket. I am racing a 675 Daytona, and my dealer has been great. Triumph North America really has its act together. Any parts I have ordered are in my hands in a few days at most.

Ok found some two seat ones.
I do not believe my G.F wants to sit like that for say 500 miles
thanx

Rocket 3 is a BIG. BIKE.

Never ridden one, but standing next to one that was the only thing I thought.

Ducati Multistrada 1200 S Touring - Ducati

afterburn 549 10-23-2014 03:36 PM

I like big bikes. So the transition i think would be OK
And nynor why do you ask? whats the point here?

i was suggesting that a girlfriend that doesn't like riding on a ducati may need replacing. all in jest, sir. carry on. :)

afterburn 549 10-23-2014 04:02 PM

OH , HA, LOL. Sorry. My fault.
No she is a good gal, somehow that looks like a pretty high perch on a ducati.
Thanx

nynor 10-23-2014 04:09 PM

it is a high perch. i've met folks that have toured much of the nation on multistradas.

check this out: CanyonChasers Motorcycle Sport Touring

i've met some of these folks and they are really good peeps.

Saw a girl on the back of a sportsbike... her head was completely above the person in front of her... great for her visibility but didn't look all that comfortable.

I may be wrong but it seems like afterburn is looking for a cruiser not a sport bike.
YMMV

nynor 10-23-2014 04:37 PM

a true sportbike is not comfortable, IMO, for long rides. my buddy's 749 is simply brutal to ride for long distances.

however, the sport touring bikes are said to be fairly comfortable. i wouldn't know, because i've never ridden one, but that is what i've heard from those that do ride them long distances.

afterburn 549 10-23-2014 04:52 PM

If it was just me , Yes a Ducati would be a option. However I have to settle for the middle of compromise and mediocrity .
Two up long distance is what it is.

nynor 10-23-2014 04:59 PM

well, let us know what you get and how you like it. i, for one, am interested.

afterburn 549 10-23-2014 05:09 PM

I am going to take one for a long test drive and see how it compares to what i am used to.
I will post what i find.

Bikes to take a ride on.

Triumph Rocket III, make sure your holding on when you crack the throttle the bike may wanna come out from under you.

Moto Guzzi 1400 California Special with or without bags looks promising.
