Ebola in NYC

NY Times is reporting that the doctor in NYC has Ebola.

this is worthy of shaming the doctor and doctors with out boarders.

this guy came in out of the hot zone...he should have been self quarantined. there is no god damn excuse for this terrible decision to simply get on a commercial flight and dead head home.

I will say that doctors w/o boarders has always been an exceptional group and I was proud to have the head of the organization speak at the lecture series in my fathers name at yale.

this poor discretion however has me re-thinking my position. I'm sad as well as mad.

A discussion my with my wife, maybe setup quarantine camps in Africa. After 21 days, you can leave.

you are absolutely correct. this is a very sober suggestion. this guy is no better than the nurse that got on the plane and flew to try on wedding dresses. I just expect more from an MD that has been in the hot zone.

damn shameful. no other way for me to feel about this.

fintstone 10-23-2014 06:26 PM

Gosh, didn't we predict this...and were pooh poohed?

Ferraripete 10-23-2014 06:43 PM

the good but clearly not so smart doctor seemed to think it was a good idea to have contact with his girlfriend upon his return from his stint in Africa. I suspect there is a hardy chance she may make the news shortly.

doctors w/o boarders needs to come out with a statement indicating hence forth their staffers will be monitored as a matter of course...after 21 days and they are clear, they can go about their ways.

this news does their noble organization ZERO favors.

And yes, you can get it that way...

Use him for whatever testing is necessary to further our understanding of the disease just be sure to let him die untreated in a sealed room afterwards.

That's all the pos diserves.

intakexhaust 10-23-2014 07:43 PM

Was this guy really a doctor or a pompazz wannabe? He couldn't be educated. No way, but if so, license should be yanked.

Neilk 10-23-2014 08:34 PM

What dumazz. On the bright side, if the only ones to get Ebola in the US were two nurses who directly dealt with Duncan's crap and vomit, then it makes feel better that this won't spread. Duncan's family are apparently in the clear, so it seems as if it takes some serious contact to get it.

Actionable - negligent homicide if this goes the way it could...

Just to be clear, (and for the record), it's "Doctors Without Borders"

They are not people who refuse to rent rooms in their houses. :)

red-beard 10-23-2014 08:58 PM

He's so dumb, I say, he's so dumb that he thinks the Mexican border pays rent...

Let's hope he didn't try on any wedding dresses.

yes, yes...sorry. I was on a rant and knew better.

onewhippedpuppy 10-23-2014 09:15 PM

Now that it's in NYC, is Will Smith going to save the day?

Kraftwerk 10-23-2014 09:32 PM

From the NY times: "visited a bowling alley in Williamsburg..."
That's ten blocks from my place... damn

and : " The authorities have interviewed Dr. Spencer several times and are also looking at information from both his credit cards and MetroCard to determine his movements."

Glad I'm not a bowler. Wonder if they have to quarantine all the balls?
