10 years

10 years ago today I brought home my first (and still current) Porsche. 119600 km on it when I bought it, and it's at about 205 now, so over 85000 km. It's had 3 engines - the original numbers-matching 2.4, a hot-rodded 1967 2.0L an the current 1982 3.0L. (I still have the original - it's on the garage floor awaiting a rebuild). When I bought the car I didn't know what a fan belt was. Since then I've not only changed that fan belt, but been through almost every inch of the car, including a transmission rebuild, carburetor rebuild, brakes, clutch, suspension, interior, almost all DIY. Just about the only thing I haven't done is the engine rebuild.

I've had other Porsches along the way (83 944, 99 boxster, 86 911) and driven plenty of them (I've driven every generation of 911 except the 991), but this is the one that's stayed with me, and likely always will. Not that I don't appreciate the modern ones, but my heart is truly in old cars.

Christien 10-29-2014 06:51 PM

Nope, that pic was from today :)

For a minute there I thought there were two different owners, or at least, father and son...

Congrats.

Excellent and coincidentally I bought mine at almost exactly the same time and still got it too.
I like the two pics where you can see how the surroundings have change, like the trees and bushes - and hair stile. :)

Congrats Christien. I too bought mine 10 years ago - but I took delivery in August. But I must shamefully admit that I haven't driven mine as much . . .

Most of us are not getting any younger but it appears that you are!

Congrats on the 10 years.

Good thing the neighbors trimmed that tree...was a little unruly back in '04

Car looks well loved :)

Cool!....what happened to the hair, Christien?

I've had my SC since 1991....I'll have to dig up some old pics too but that might be extra....... SCAAAARRRRRY!

BIGMerle 10-30-2014 08:55 AM

Great pics!!

Congrats! I think I'm coming up on 10 years pretty soon too!

Damn! I'm getting old!

techweenie 10-30-2014 09:06 AM

Congrats!

I find working on the car is a 'bonding' experience. Also customizing. The ducktail is a good improvement. In 10 years, I hope you'll share another photo.

Your 911 looks awesome - that duck tail is sweet. Love the explosion of color in the backdrop.

Reverted back to Fuchs.
