Harley Davidson "Livewire" prototype bike
I just saw a video of the new Harley concept, café racer style, all electric motorcycle and was really impressed with it. It has 74 HP and 52 lb. ft. of torque with an economy mode and a power mode. Unfortunately, for right now, with battery technology as it is, the range in economy mode is about 60 miles, but drops to 30 miles in power mode, which obviously will have to improve before public sales, but Tesla is doing amazing work with battery advancements, and is planning on building a 5 billion dollar battery assembly plant to be able to supply the power plants for up to 500,000 vehicles a year, they currently only build 35,000 cars a year and plan on building EV batteries for other applications as well. I am just speculating here, but maybe a deal could be struck for what Harley needs for the future ?

Going to have to figure a way to put the playing cards in the spokes to make some noise!
Nice looking bike but who is the target market? |
So a motorcycle that is fun to ride for 15 minutes out and 15 minutes back home. Yea, that makes sense.

I think it's great that they are trying something.
Seems like there's a lot of electric bikes out there but maybe HD has the capital to actually make a good one. This isn't that 'good one' but it's a start. |
PS if you remove the cupholder you get 31 miles instead of 30.

The best part of all would be the lack of revving every 5 seconds at stop light like most Harleys seem to need to accomplish to keep running.
|
They will be getting a 'throttle blip app' for it

Zero and Brammo are way ahead in the electric bike segment. Roughly 150 mile range, 65ish horsepower and 102 ft/lbs of torque.
The Mission R - 160HP, 120ft/lbS! |
But but, how ever will they get loud straight pipes so people can look at them?
|
You'd think they would have a better range since other bikes can do it.....
