(Some) wimmin and cars

Semi significant other calls from a parking garage, "My power steering belt is broken" Me thinks, it's a 2007 Ford so serpentine belt, right?

Sever volleys back and forth, I ask, Is there a long belt with ridges/ribs on the car. Yes she says.

Where is it? She says "On the fender".

I am so glad my wife is not like that. She can hear a funny noise and know to check it out BEFORE something breaks.

Married but live separate. Safer that way. A few know some of the gory details. Joe Bob for one.

Still something there, but Man, it can get scary in close proximity across time.

I will give her credit on that front.

This was a surprise. Hole in the drive shaft boot slowly spitting grease onto the belt array. Cold-"ask" day and plastic tensioner pulley got cooked. Threw belt.

Replaced drive shaft and pulley. New belt. She actually pulled the belt over the power steering pulley while I was under the car twisting the tensioner thingie. She yelled "I got it, I got it"

Closest we have been in years. Including doing the occasional "nasty".

Umm. A GF years a go who thought she knew everything...

We were going around a corner and her oil light came on so I was all OMG the oil light etc. She put on a voice that was just short of calling me stupid and informed me that oil lights that come on occasionally (corners for instance ) means some time or another you need need to top up the oil. When the oil light comes on and stays on it means next time you get gasoline you need to get oil too.

And some guys n cars

The story of the girl and her take on oil lights reminded me of this guy.
I worked with a guy 35 years ago who wouldn't check the oil in his delivery truck. He would just keep an eye on the oil pressure guage and when it dropped he would dump in a quart. Man those 318s were tough!

Oh, and the guy was a licensed mechanic. No wonder he was working for a dairy.

Best

I have a little repair shop. If I looked at this stuff as bad karma, I would have to hang myself.

Definitely repairable. A pro has to do the front box repairs and I have bought the donor nose exterior parts with first option on whatever part/or all of the front box I need (includes windshield on the Targa and Cab).

Yes, Sir. A 2.3L Focus. Not a bad little car. Threw another belt. Too much grease lingering. Took it to the pressure spray place 1/2 mile away on the battery without coolant moving and doused it with Purple Power. Gunk did not really cut the axle grease. Way cleaner but have to do some due diligence cleaning from underneath to not do this again.

Edit - two hours later - Doh! One of my shop mates brought in a screwdriver that I lost in the engine abyss. It was 200 yards from the shop. Right where I heard the odd noise and the belt came off.
