Traditional Thanksgiving

I want to wish everybody a nice time tomorrow.
We are fortunate. The kids arrived today. Some had to fly in.
My mother and father have been married for .... are you ready for this?
68 years. They are coming.
I am hoping it is very, very cold so I can build a good fire in the Country Stove.
It has been around 40 degrees in the morning so with all the family in the house,
I might not be able to stoke the fire up. California.

Anyway, beat your uncle Walt in the annual game of chess and carve the bird
up nice. Enjoy.

My house already smells like Thanksgiving, pumpkin pies are in the oven, and cranberry relish in the fridge. The 22 lb turkey is currently soaking in a citrusy brine solution on the back steps, and there is a crackling fire in the wood burner...........my favorite holiday. 10 people for dinner and football tomorrow.

My sister and her kids came into town today. They are staying at my Mom's house. I've got a turkey brining and a smoker ready to go first thing in the AM. I made cranberry sauce already, and my mom prepped her ham this evening. My wife and two girls, my mom, my sister and her two kids, my MIL and FIL and my BIL are all coming over for dinner tomorrow. I'm really looking forward to it.

Didn't know that, I'm a triplet, two sisters, born in 1954 before the fertility drug stuff.

True story, when we were born, Macy's ran an Ad in NYC saying if you had twins, they'd sell you a twin baby stroller for the price of a single. My Mom called and asked what they could do for triplets. Macy's said "can we take some pics for Ads? We'll custom build you a triple stroller for the price of a single".

When I was born I was 2lbs, 11 oz. I was the runt, my sisters were a little bigger. I'm 60 y/o and 5'11" and about 170lbs, and all are perfectly normal.

But I digress, happy Thanksgiving everyone. Daughter, SIL and grandson come in for XMAS. We're going to stay at the Disneyland Hotel for a few days before XMAS. Heavily discounted with an employee perk, of course.

I'm looking forward to 4 days off. I'm gonna do a traditional oven turkey this year (I was on a pork shank kick last year) with assorted side dishes that are pretty darn good.

I also have the complete set of "The Wild Wild West" that I've been meaning to watch, plus the normal chores around the old castle. I'm just thankful for everything. My health, my family, my friends. Oh, and you guys and gals too you buncha maroons!!! Happy Thansgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving Pelicanites!!

We are off to the East side of MI for dinner with my family.

I made a peanut butter pie and bacon wrapped water chestnuts. I bought a pumpkin pie from a specialty bakery in our Little Bavaria (Frankenmuth).

Be safe on the roads.
