imprisioned behind a false wall story....doesn't add up

I don't get this story. Every time they report on it, its weirder and weirder. Were they not looking for the kid? Did the mom not know where the dad was? They said the dad gave him a cell phone to text friends....WTH?

Anyone else following this?

Noah930 12-03-2014 05:16 AM

Not following the story other than the news blurb on Yahoo issued the day the kid was found, but it sounded wacky and far-fetched even then. As in, the kid didn't really want to be found for the first 4 years of "imprisonment."

Right....the reporting has been so shabby it just doesn't make sense. Gets eyes on the TV but leaves a lot of questions.

I thought that the false wall was place that the kid hid from anyone coming by otherwise he would just hang in the house. The kid didn't go to any kind of school?

What color was the wall?

WTF???...The mother never even reported him missing. The mother was awarded custody and the father took him anyway, so dad broke the law.

Since the mother didn't even report him missing, she was likely glad dad took away the responsibility of raising him.

My guess...Dad instilled some harsh punishment for the boy's misbehavior and the kid said..."Let's try mom for a while". Its a made for TV news story, and the mother got her 15 minutes of fame without wanting it.

Doesn't matter. Dad is an attorney.

Welcome to the USA, circa 2014. :D

The story is local to me. It's been on the news numerous times.

This is what I know:

-The boy was not enrolled in school
-The boy was seen by neighbors doing yardwork daily, and was always supervised by his stepmother
-The boy called his mom on a cell phone
-When police showed up, he was hidden behind a false wall
-The boy called his mom while police were there and gave his location
-The boy was found by police

Another weird thing, the boy himself gave statements to the media when he was at the police station. He claims he was not allowed to shower.

The local news reports didn't mention whether or not the mother reported him missing.

Here's another.

From what I've read, the mother reported him missing back in 2010 to the child welfare authorities, but not the police. She is an immigrant and possibly didn't know the procedure and thought the welfare authorities would contact the police.

When the boy got the phone, he immediately texted his mother in Florida.

The police in Clayton County, where he was held, were never notified of a missing child.

The woman arrested with the father, Samantha Davis, is currently on probation for a previous child endangerment charge.

This article gives a good summary of the facts, and paints a better picture of how and why it happened. It doesn't contain all the facts that I've come across, but it puts the story in perspective and makes it more credible. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/crime/watch-boy-found-behind-wall-made-work-roof-article-1.2028732

Gotta love trial by media.

VaSteve 12-03-2014 09:20 AM

Thanks Ossi... makes a bit more sense.

I do like how the article makes out the fact he was working on the roof as almost more egregious than being kidnapped.
