Inspired by Holoway

I know, scary premise.

Anyway, I get all kinds of crap from vendors wanting me to tout their products, but DeWalt really outdid them all. They sent me this tiny, but heavy duty, plastic tool case with magnets in the top, about 6" long.

It had a thumb drive inside with a slide show of all their new tools.

What am I going to do with a tiny plastic tool case with magnets on top? Inspired by Holoway, I am now carrying my own toothpick wherever I go.

When I walk into a restaurant I will demand a table with enough space for my tiny plastic tool case with magnets on top. "My good man, I require a table large enough for my plate as well as my little tiny tool case with magnets on top, for that is where I carry my toothpick. Oh, and tell that asswipe at the next table to please get that moldy old coaster out of the dining room."

Look like there's also room for a coaster.

Maybe even two toothpicks!

stomachmonkey 12-03-2014 12:47 PM

Wow that's tiny.

Pictures can be deceiving

You need an exotic wood toothpick.

Noah930 12-03-2014 01:26 PM

Phew. I thought maybe you started taking pics of roofing girls to post on the internet.

Add some dental floss too - that will take up some room!

A while back I was given a similarly clever marketing tool:

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1417644255.jpg

it's about 3-1/2" tall and made of molded rubber.
It is a copy of a decoking combination bit (high pressure water cutting bit, about 1000lbs worth).
Here's a pic of the real thing:

So what is the little rubber copy all about?
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1417644382.jpg

it's a flash drive with all sorts of info about the company's products.

If it looked like a regular drive it'd probably be given away or lost by now, I have dozens of em in my desk.
But this one is cool enough* to keep around for a while.

*That's engineer cool, not regular people cool.

that is pretty damn funny..hahah.

You found the spear of destiny. Guard it carefully.

sc_rufctr 12-04-2014 02:21 AM

You could store a spare key for your car in that... But I wouldn't trust the magnets alone. + Zip Tie? ;)

wdfifteen 12-04-2014 04:35 AM

I don't know what the magnets are for. I think this must have been designed to hold a real tool of some kind and the magnets have some function for that, but I can't imagine what it is.

So, what do you do that tool mfgs always want you to tout their product?

I'm very interested.

herr_oberst 12-04-2014 06:34 AM

I went onto the company website looking for the toothpick holder. Didn't find one, so I sent of a query.

I hope they get back to me soon.

I bought one a while back. IIRC it came with a set of hex bits.
Pretty handy.
(if you don't have toothpicks you could also put your weed in there)

I was wondering as you once posted about a vintage truck photo shoot.

maybe for small things, I can see that thing scratching the wall as it slides down the surface, and picking up screws and shavings everywhere.

Vendor swag- the stuff that fills junk drawers. When I go to trade shows I purposely avoid everything.....Unless it's actual samples.
