That thing looks the business...

livi 01-12-2015 11:31 AM

Thats a manly ride.

LaFerrari in blue?

Twin turbo six, 600hp...nothing to see here folks...

intakexhaust 01-12-2015 11:49 AM

Wicked looks. Indeed hope they run LeMans with it. Good with them limiting on the cube's but with big hp. V6 pushing 600hp. Suspended with Doktor Porsche's torsion springies.

I predict a sucking sound coming from those Gen 1 owners who thought they bought the equivalent of a Mercedes 300SL Gullwing.

I think those Gen 1 folks did just fine. Wish I was one of them. That car will only go up in value despite future iterations...and is an incomparable beauty.

I see those every week, the only people I could see complaining would be the people I saw pay over $350k when they first came out. Even then they probably bought them for the long run.

intakexhaust 01-12-2015 12:58 PM

^^When you say Gen 1, do you mean the 2004 ish? That one was definitely on my top list for looks but lacked the glory and hoopla of LeMans. Maybe some of the endurance racers can pipe in but I believe one large issue was a weak trans.

Although today and classifications are getting loopy, but if Ford's latest makes a go and cleans up at LeMans, I think buyers in this narrow market will lean towards Ford vs Ferrari. But Ford first has to prove it.

My question is, what Ford dealer is qualified or able to service it? And then the whole issue of that tub repair. Yikes. Ferrari dealer techs are used to it and race orientated. This stuff isn't like old days just a pretty skin wrapped around a thumping V8 and mechanical transmissions.

jorian 01-12-2015 12:59 PM

I know a guy who bought one to time capsule it and cash-in.

onewhippedpuppy 01-12-2015 01:00 PM

I don't think you can touch an original Ford GT for $350k, so those guys did ok.

I like the new one. Ford has their stuff together.

jorian 01-12-2015 01:01 PM

Yep 2004ish. Beautiful car and closer in design to the original than the latest rig.

2006 Ford GT GT for $299,000 in TORONTO | autoTRADER.ca

About $250KUS. In fairness though, the Canadian ones cannot be exported to the US or vice versa. Different crash test protocols which I find totally ridiculous but that's another thread.

jorian 01-12-2015 01:10 PM

I think a few people paid the original MSRP of +-$135K before the speculators showed up. I thought Leno had one. Clarkson had one too. Not sure what he paid but he created a whole TopGear episode about the car alarm.

great looking car. the b-pillar treatment is very impressive and love the effect of a tunnel all the way ay back to the rear spoiler! great effort by ford!!

ckelly78z 01-12-2015 01:23 PM

The 2004ish is on my short list of must have vehicles if I win the mega lottery, although this new one looks awfully good , and appears to be more potent.

Other cars on my short list would be a Shelby Cobra, 63 Ford Thunderbolt, 70 Boss 302, 70 240Z, 68 Hemi Dart, and maybe something Italian like a 550 Maranello.

See if the Ferrari guys can take care of it for you

Yes, those are the cars I meant, original sticker was $250 ish but I saw two go out of Capistrano Ford and the salesman said they went for $350 each. One to Colorado, don't know where the other went. I know people that own them now, see them almost weekly, one has less than 500 miles.
