Dusted off the compound bow after 10 years.

Noah930's son had a birthday today and wanted to have it at the local archery range. I have not shot in 10 years, mostly because I just got out of the sport and I had a shoulder accident many years ago that has left it pretty torn up. Makes drawing 55lbs hard after a few rounds. I had a blast for about an hour. I think I will start shooting more regularly again. Hopefully I can build up some muscles that will take over for the torn shoulder and make it easier.

Not bad for having not shot in 10 years.

Last grouping. Shoulder was feeling it. Pulled the last shot. Still pretty impressed with my groupings today.

Shooting arrows into a bale of ramen noodles?
What the hell are you, a vegetarian?

Time to Man-Up!

Hey! At the local public range. Not up to me.

Thanks for coming out, Dave!

FWIW, I find it ironic that this archery range is also in a nature reserve. There's a sign at the gate that warns no shooting at any animals. 😀

great shooting.

a new bow will be heaven sent for that shoulder of your's. however, the arrows coming out of it will blast thru that hale bale.

Thanks, vash!

I think I'm going to give it a few more tries when I get back into town and see how my shoulder feels with my old bow before investing money in a new one that I may not be able to shoot. There's 1/4" plywood behind the fake bales. One shot went between the bales and punctured the wood. :D Had to pull really hard to get it out.

I think Vash is on the right track. A new bow with a 35 pound weight and 75% letoff will really help your shoulder! Bow technology has come a long way! No need to shoot a heavy bow for target practice.

Welcome back to archery!

I started shooting in the early 90's, if you didn't pull 70+ lbs, you were a wimp.
My passion is chasing turkeys w/bow and having to hold for 20+ seconds, I went to 58-ish lbs, (60lbs max bow, backed down 1/2 turn) and matched carbon arrows to weight.

slodave, 2 passions..... guitars and bows!!!
