Rental house: Robber kicks in door. Then a house blows up. (happy ending)

So on Friday, my wife takes off for Seattle. We were joining her there on Saturday.

We have a rental house in Seattle, and our renters were both out of town. The gal calls me in a panic, because the police called her and said that a robber had kicked in the door, and robbed the place. This is about 5pm Seattle time, 8pm in OH.

My wife and I had not been in Seattle in over 6 months, and this just happens to occur when we are headed into town for a week. Thank you Lord.

Wife gets into town, goes to the house and secures it with the help of one of our contractors. We join her on Saturday, and get the repairs lined up.

Oh wait. I failed to mention the house explosion. My daughter and I are leaving for the airport at 3pm on Saturday. About 2:45, there is a huge thud. Shakes the house. It was so deep that I was sure that something had hit the back of the house, and went outside to look. Nothing there. Perplexed, I go back in and get back to work. Turns out a house a mile away had exploded! Gas leak. Miracle no one was killed, or even seriously hurt

Here in Seattle, more positive news. The Seattle police had been following the dirtbag who robbed the house. He has a long record, and they knew he was casing houses. He walked up, kicked in the door, and when he emerged from the house, the police were standing there. Busted. My renters went down to the station today and got all of their belongings back. His ass is in jail. My contractor is a gem, and the door will be fixed by tomorrow afternoon, and that includes plaster and paint.

Life is full of loops. Learn to enjoy the ride.

At least they caught the guy. From the title I was expecting that the burglar kicked in the door to a house with a gas leak, causing it to explode instantly. That would have been a happy ending too.

That's about as good of an outcome as you can get for a burglary!

Wait, I thought a robber blew up. You need to work on your titles. Glad he got caught and all is well.
