mind you, my knowledge base is limited. : )

I've gotten my HR to >200 bpm (203 to be exact) on a spin bike, with no ill effects, didn't feel bad other than being normally tired.

On the road bike, I commonly see 180 bpm, though I can't keep that level of effort up for very long. That's like sprinting 30+ mph on the flat or climbing a hill fast.

150 bpm I can keep up for an extended period. That's like riding 25 mph on the flat or climbing a longer hill.

I have some HR graphs I'll try to find.

John eats pretty good, and cycles daily. He's in better shape than me, and I'm half his age!
