Lost in Transmission.......

Fairly new TV show where the main guy "Rut" (from the US Top Gear version) and his kinda redneck friend find classic vehicles to restore............................as a 'business'.

The premiss is Rut knows someone who wants to have their classic vehicle restored but don't have the cash for a pro shop to do it. They offer to do it themselves for a 'big discount' but really they just hand it over to their 'friends' who do all the work. Even for TV it's pretty shallow but it's really very funny and entertaining. Combining the best parts of Top Gear with a little mechanical stuff thrown in.

I dig it ;)

Digging it here as well. I like Rutledge. He seems pretty knowledgeable about cars and not "fake

I think FastnLoud has jumped the shark and MISFIT Garage is right behind them.

Full Custom Garage is pretty cool and the dude Ian has some serious skills.

Still into Street Outlaws. I love cars in general and like seeing how much HP those guys can make in a "street" car.

Sorry, went off on a tangent for a bit. :)

Saw it advertised but didn't want to watch another restoration show with guys who know any automotive other than what the Q cards tell them to say.

Yup. If any of those shops were really that dysfunctional they wouldn't last six months.

You guys really should check it out as it is completely different than you would think. Lot's of good 'banter' between Rut and his friend making fun of each other in a very casual way which is part the focus..........

Aragorn 06-01-2015 08:26 AM

I have watched a few episodes. Here is Rutledge Wood's Garage site Rutledge Wood's Garage | The Official Website of Rutledge Wood Nothing fancy but he seems to have the same eclectic taste in cars that I have. Would love to have the double cab pickup sitting in my driveway.

Only thing I would change about the show is the co-host. He seems to be a hanger-on type guy. Fast and loud (Gas Monkey garage) has a better host duo. More in-depth info on the car restoration and mods too.

I've watched a few. I agree with Aragorn, the banter between Rut and the other guy seems contrived and scripted. Maybe they'll loosen up a bit after they get a few more episodes under their belt.

Another one I've seen is Girl's Garage, a 30 min commercial for all kinds of aftermarket products. A little entertaining but not a "must see".

bivenator 06-01-2015 09:13 AM

The only must see on all girls garage is the blondie who does the talking. The 12 y/o boy in me comes on strong when they reference inserting the shaft, greasing the ball joint etc.

There are shows that are enjoyably stupid, just plain stupid, and unwatchably stupid. This falls into the latter category.

cheers,
Phil

I download a few episodes and tried to watch it, but I just couldn't do it.

He is just the opposite- big time -big money music guy with an eclectic collection- look him up.

9dreizig 06-01-2015 03:04 PM

watched it for the first and last time the other night.. absolutely terrible trash.. one hour of my life I'll never get back.....

varmint 06-01-2015 06:51 PM

didn't inspire the same immediate loathing as the american version of top gear.

still can't see myself watching it.

Brillo 06-06-2015 02:10 PM

I like it a lot, that is a bit of a surprise. Last episode next week. I hope it gets picked up.

Oh Haha 06-06-2015 03:09 PM

Hey, they had Porsche 911 content on the last episode!

What he said^^^

I kinda started watching "Street Outlaws" when recovering from surgery... but the show quickly jumped the shark... "street racers" with roll cages, wheelie bars, pulling their cars to "shootouts" on covered trailers...

Nostril Cheese 06-06-2015 05:10 PM

I can't watch any of those Top Gear USA hosts. So annoying.
