Reminds me of a manhole cover being removed from the sidewalk and someone steps into it.

"Gee, didn't they see it was missing?"

Sorry, he who removed it is at fault.

Again, just to clarify... I have more experience as a barfly than a gym rat (My only gym experience was at the YMCA as a teen)... but doesn't the mat on the treadmill have some kind of markings to indicate it is running?

Yes it does. And being an expensive gym treadmill, the "mat" is made up multiple pieces--more akin to tank treads--and is not a single rubber piece. You seen horizontal lines coming at you when it is on.

Plan to continue defending your mistake..and repeating it next visit. ?
You must like hurting people…and are unable to see it's your mistake.
Might want to up your umbrella policy…or get one.

Not to mention, who in his right mind leaves a "run a away treadmill

This thread is a perfect example of so much of what's wrong with America.

If I were king for a day, one of the first things I'd do would be to have all the lawyers (particularly the tort lawyers) rounded up and shot.

I've got no love for greedy ambulance chasers, but the OP was 100% at fault here, and trying to blame the victim.
He should be grateful that there was no greater injury, instead of trying to cleanse his conscience.

People that are negligent in their actions should take responsibility for the results.

What kind of an idiot tries to step onto a moving treadmill?

Maybe she was checking her email!

:)

I'd round up all the treadmills and have them shot!

This post is something I expect to see on facebook or a blog. (I don't have facebook or read blogs). That said,

Shouldn't the account of the incident also include a picture of what he ate for lunch?

Then only criminals will have treadmills.

KevinTodd 07-01-2015 05:36 PM

There's just no way she couldn't have known it was running when she walked up to it.

I'm also curious as to how the hell you stepped off of it while it was running...or did you turn it back on after you got off so someone else wouldn't use it?

And I have to say---if you hate running, then running on a tread is only making it worse. You'd almost immediately condition yourself to running outdoors, and who knows--you might even like it a bit more......the sights are great, there are other people you'll pass and interact with--and you can simply think....yes, think about things.

Mentioning lawyers in this makes me sick. Everything in the whole freaking world isn't actionable.....that is the primary reason our society is in the ****ter to begin with. Stupid people making simple mistakes due to their own inattention trying sue themselves rich.

If this woman knocked herself silly--it sounds like she deserves a darwin award and not a settlement.

Geez.

You forgot the part about the guy that went to a gym just to run on a treadmill while watching tv.

MBAtarga 07-01-2015 07:08 PM

The treadmills need some of these Confederate Flags that are being thrown out glued down on the belts! That would be noticed if the belt is in motion.
