Hot Tuna / Dave Mason

I saw this double header last night. Dave did his Traffic Jam show then Jorma and Jack did their Tuna thing. If it comes your way see it. Tuna was their usual low key yet most excellent guitar playing selves. Mason was surprising. Really good playing and still a strong voice. Good stuff.

The only down side was that I didn't know the Parliament Funkadelic was playing outside earlier in the plaza. :(

Jorma and Jack used to play the Calderon on LI all the time.

It was always a treat when he actually showed up.

How did Slodave get on the bill? Did he play his Les Paul knockoff?

Last time I saw Parliament/Funkadelic Tommy Lee was on drums and Macy Grey was doing vocals.

Great show, 2 hours and 4-5 songs.

That's cool, Flatbutt....longtime Traffic, Mason, Tuna, Airplane fan here.....

Did they do Embryonic Journey? That's my fav.....

I've listened to Hot Tuna since I was in high school (I'm 40), thanks to my parents' collection of vinyl, but I never got around to seeing them live until last year. They were every bit as good as I had hoped they would be. Jack and Jorma doing an all-acoustic duo show at SPACE in Evanston, IL. Fantastic!

I wouldn't have been so disappointed to find out P-Funk was also on hand, though!

Love that tune!
Met a street entertainer playing guitar at the local Farmer's Market (CA) one day...he was a guitar teacher...played Embryonic Journey.
I stood there mesmerized...got his card and wanted him to teach me the tune.
Unfortunately, I had a stroke and my guitar playing days were over...and still are.
That tune always sends chills up my spine.

Not feelin' too good my self ;).... I wore your "Certified Live" 8-track out as a young teen, and caught you and Capaldi in San Diego a few years ago, but there ain't no traffic without Stevie :p

If you don't know Jorma, then you don't know Jack!!!

HT...acoustic, electric, and one set of each...seem 'em in all variations and they never cease to put a smile on your face. Rock on....

They play McCabe's Guitar Shop every now and then, always a great show. I'd like to see them with DM if it swings thru LA. I was going to go to Jorma's Fur Peace Ranch for a guitar workshop but had to back out to work on a show. Kissed $1,200 goodbye, hope fully I can attend one of the workshops soon, he has some good teachers besides himself (Roy Bookbinder, Toby Walker, Jack Cassady, G.E. Smith etc.)

Just went on the HT web site.....they're playing 50 miles from here. Last Friday:(

I just "wish" I could play...you should sign up again REAL soon...it'll still be the best 2400 bucks you ever spent for the memory of a lifetime ;)

I know. Have a friend who went. Didn't have a solid case for his guitar and was worried it would be damaged on the flight to Columbus Ohio, figured he'd buy a cheap guitar there. Went to FPR to check in and asked about music stores in the area. The guy told him "Don't worry about it, you can use one of Jorma's guitars."

He went back to his motel with it and started calling up all his friends, "You'll never guess who's guitar I'm playing right now!". Definitely in the top experiences of his life!
