Do you guys have scars? I have a bunch of them from working on cars, screwing around with knives, chopping trees and playing with psycho cats. The gf always comments about them and how awful they look. Does you SO say anything about your scars?

yeah I might have one or two small scars.. one or two large scars too.. well... maybe a few more than one or two. hehe
name a body part and I'll count how many on it

I have some, one on my foot where I dropped an axe on it, on my ankle where I sliced it open on a piece of scrap metal, on my calf where I hit something with a lawn mower and it came up and cut me. The worst is one is inside my eye that I got from an arc welder. The strangest is a long one on the back of my hand where I scratched myself on a raspberry briar. It hardly drew blood, but the scar has been there for 20 years.

I have a noticeable ~3" scar on my right forearm from a tobacco spike. I was cutting and the guy spiking dropped the stick and the spike slashed right down thru my arm. You don't see that every day.

I thought chicks were supposed to dig scars :eek:

I have several scars from bike crashes when I was a kid. I was sure glad to get a car and only get small scars on hands from working on cars.

Less than I used to have.

Had a decent collection at one time but I typically do well with skin healing.

Scars I've had for decades seem to just disappear one day.

Even the nasty ones that required stitches.

I have many.

My hands are pretty beat up from working on cars and drumming for many years.

I'm always bashing my shins, too.

The latest hack was touching a soldering iron with my forearm whilst working. As Tommy Callahan said "that's gonna leave a mark.":D

Hot chicks dig scars. Metrosexuals and girly men generally need not apply. Real men have scars. Someone (not you) should tell your girlfriend before someone who appreciates a more manly man notices.

If she wants some smooth, feminine skin, she should sign you both up for a threesome with a sweet young blonde coed.

74 stitches 25 years ago. bottom of sternum to top of pubs. funny how that scar seems to grow, width-wise, over time...

Dozens, maybe a hundred. Propeller cuts from model airplanes, soldering iron burns, a few surgeries - all reminders of growing up.

Proud of them all.

The GF must be flawless? Frankly if my SO started complaining about my looks, and it bothered me enough to post here, is it time to show her the door? Doesn't sound like a keeper.....

My scars have scars, when I get pre-op visits with interns it turns into a orthopedic Q&A session!
Hardware? Got plenty of that to.

The worst scars are the ones on your heart from mistreatment by other people or circumstances of life. We rarely show those to anyone. Some people compensate for the scars such as bragging about all that they own to compensate for their lack of self esteem. Others will hide fear of mortality, by drowning themselves in drugs and alcohol. Sometimes these scars never heal. That said, I don't have any cool scars on the outside. Just a few from stupid moves that required stitches.

I have a new one in-progress; I cut a piece of steel with a cutoff wheel, then 10s later backed my calf into it.

Nah, she's a keeper. Just wondering if anyone else had a s.o. that comments about scars.

I've got a bunch of them.
The latest one ( this spring) required 5 staples on top of my head.
Wife doesn't seem to mind.......well.... except for having to drive me to the ER frequently.

Still have the scar on my nose, my father said not to fix it as it would add character:p
Course I have other, larger scars too.

When my arms get tan in the summer months, you can really tell how bad 25 years of wrenching have torn me up. From my hands up to my elbows, it is mostly scar tissue. I bleed nearly daily .

Me too. This thread made me look for them. Scars that I had for decades are gone now.

Lots of scars, my hands are like Fred's, plus I burned them good one time.
Had my stomach opened from belly button to my dick from a botched kidney stone scope when I was 20. Also a scar on my back from a kidney operation.
Scar on my nose from a hockey skate plus a bunch in my scalp and in the corner of my eye from fighting, but at least I still have all my teeth.

Obviously my wife digs scars ;)

I have what looks like a mole on my left hand. It's actually a scar from the time my dad told me to go haul a tree branch he'd cut down to the curb. As soon as I picked up the branch I got nailed by a hornet of some sort that emerged from a well hidden nest. In retrospect, I'm pretty sure my dad was chased into the house by the same hornet. I doubt he lost any sleep over it.

Next to the hornet scar is a small mark put there by a friend I've known since high school. He's an odd, but amusing guy who challenged me to a game of "mercy" when we were in our 20s. I've always been stronger than I looked and had no trouble holding him off. He got mad that he couldn't beat me and dug his fingernail into the back of my hand drawing blood. He and I are still close friends today.

On my left thumb next to the "mercy" scar is one I got working on my VW beetle. While driving home from a movie with my closest female friend from high school, the car sputtered while on the highway. I dove for the exit ramp. We coasted up the hill, the light turned green and we coasted around the corner and into a gas station. The distributor gear was stripped. While loosening the adjusting nut my hand slipped and some pointy part left a divot on the back of my thumb. She and I never officially dated, but were best of friends. We're still in touch today, though she has a fairly arrogant and jealous hubby so we rarely talk. We had lunch when I went back to Atlanta for my class reunion. The hubby called in the middle of lunch... could hear him on the phone... "You're still at the restaurant???" I hope that if they ever go their separate ways that the next guy won't feel threatened by her staying in touch with an old friend.

My right rib cage has a small dark spot on the side. Looks pretty much like a dark mole, but it's really a "graphite tattoo," as one doctor called it. When I was a kid, my brother who was 10 years my senior and I were pretending to sword fight with pencils. He lunged I took the pencil in my hand and pretended to have been stabbed. Then I fell to the ground, landing firmly on the pencil! I rolled over and the pencil was sticking straight up! I pulled it out and it bled just a bit. Never told the parents as we both would have been in big trouble. This brother would ask me to come along when he had a movie date with his girlfriend. I remember thinking how cool as I got to see movies my parents would never have gone to see. This brother also got me started with cars, Porsches, and Seikos. He died of a heart attack in his sleep at age 49 - about ten years ago. My dermatologist said he could remove the spot pretty easily. No thanks. I like it right where it is.

they wanted to reupholster some areas....

Scars? I raced motorcycles half mile and TT for years, yes it left scars. A Mexican guy bit my face up pretty good in a fight once but this is a more recent one.

I'm all for "do-it-yourself," but there is a time when you just have to hire a professional. :)

A bunch from road rashes riding road bikes. Somehow, they are slowly going away or maybe I am out in the sun and my farmer's tan has covered up some of them. Who knows. There are some pretty good ones from sliding my ass on the asphalt on spandex. Most are on my legs. None from fighting or working on cars. Hey, I usually beat their ass before they have a chance to look at me, but you guys already knew that.:D

I hope I never go bald. I got 3/4 scalped from the fin on a surfboard. The strange thing is it just felt like a good ole whack on the head but the water had turned red in a 1 meter radius around me LOL.

I was shocked when I first saw it too!
It looks a little better after three years. They did some nerve damage, no extra charge.:rolleyes:

I might have suggested this before Fred but why don't you kick back a bit and man the front office and hire a couple of young uns to do the wrenching? Short of that do less wrenching and hire a couple of young uns anyway?

I would guess that Fred wants to do stuff himself so he knows it is done right

All of the scars from over 100 stitches are gone and faded now in my face from face planting a windshield, after getting hit by a freight train in a Pinto (no explosion ?!). I still have my battle scars on my right hip (shattered pelvis) from 3 years ago when some tool ran a stop sign into me @ 60 mph. I also have my exploratory surgury/speenectomy scar (Hodkins cancer) running from my junk to my navel. Lots of little daily battle scars from working on things.

I don't feel the need to brag about, or show them off, but I've earned every one of them !

Not sure it's on topic, but it's topical : Are there scar creams that work ? I tried mederma on my kid's face for 6 months, it's not cheap, and it made ZERO difference.

I've started using bag balm on dry skin and rub it over cuts once theyve sealed themselves up. Seems to help heal faster and less scars since then.

My hands are pretty beat up looking. Lots of cuts working on cars, plus I get bad dry skin and my hands are cracked and bleeding almost all winter, even with copious amounts of lotion.

Got a cool scar on my neck from paintball, one on my forehead from the coffee table, few on my legs from climbing...

My wife swears by cocoa butter cream applied to fresh scars, it will make them mostly disappear after a few months.....it's cheap also, so no problem trying it.
