Make sure you push the peanut butter up under the trigger and through the little hole so it's harder to clean. Check the trap every day otherwise the little bugger starts stinking.

One advantage of glue boards and snap traps is that you have positive location of dead mouse so that it can be disposed of before it stinks. Use rat size glue board with small dog treat in the middle. Catch multiple mice and they can't carry the board away. Good snap trap is "T-Rex". Black plastic and reusable. Easy to arm with no danger to fingers. Always be mindful of children and pets. Saw a chihuahua stuck to a glue board. Vegetable oil dissolves the glue.
Mice are nasty critters. Poop and pee wherever they go.

We always hot glue traps to about an 8"x8" square of cardboard. Trap doesn't disappear, and if you have a bleeder, clean up is a snap! ;)

Just went through this this weekend. I've had a mouse trapped in my son's bedroom for a week. He ignored chemical traps and managed to clean 2 mechanical traps of peanut butter several times without setting them off. My son finally nailed the little varmint with a well placed head shot from an airsoft gun.
