I'd be doing cartwheels if my Chevy Silverado got that mileage. It's more like 12 mpg in town and 16 on the highway.

Yea, but it's not large, just medium. My 2015 Tahoe(large) does 18-21.

One of the few in the Toyota lineup that's sold in the US and still built in Japan. I've been contemplating one as the next purchase. Maybe a TRD Pro version.

What ya gonna do wit that LC of yours?

I really think that V8 in there is a better (driving and feel)engine then the 5th gen V6. On paper, the V6 has more power but its a little ways up the rev range. Whereas a V8 is , well, a V8. Tq down low and through out the rev range. That's the way an off road vehicle should feel like, not some high revving gas saving 4 cylinder ecnobox. That said, I am a big fan of their little 4 banger 22R motor even though its way under power.

I agree. I went from the 4th Gen V8 to the 5th Gen V6. I'm now used to the V6 engine, but I do miss the V8's torque.

My brother in Idaho has it. That baby is a gas hog, 8-12 miles per gallon  .

I'd keep the '07 Ext Cab Tacoma 4x4 and look for a nice 4 Runner, 2010-16. Depreciation doesn't hit them too hard, it's only a few $k more for new than 2-3 y.o. Still on the fence, the Tacoma is still strong with 180k on the clock.

In the city, I shift it out of OD or D and use only the four gears. I can't stand that transmission the way it shifts. I think Toyota should allow the user to determine where the shift points are.

That Tacoma should run for another 100k

8-12 mph is normal. Hey, gas is cheap SmileWavy

Well, finally pulled the trigger on some new wheels. A 2016 4Runner Trail Premium. Have been driving it a couple of weeks, a big step up from the '07 Tacoma. This has the KDSS hydraulic swaybar system. I bought a Toytec 3" full suspension lift kit and started looking for someone to install. They either just stared at me with a blank look or acted like i was speaking Chinese when I would ask them if they were familiar with the KDSS system.

So, if you want it done right you just have to do it yourself. Installed it with some beefier upper control arms on Saturday, needless to say I'm a little sore today. Suspension install is not recommended for those over 50. I like the new stance though!

Nice choice of color. Since these pics, I lifted the front on mine by 1.5 inches, to level it out.

We looked at 4runners, and got the highlander instead. Cheaper, way more comfy, and will easy do any weather with its 4 wheel drive.

The 4Runner has greater suspension travel, but that's not needed in a snow storm...

Off-road? 4 runner.

Highway? Highlander.

I tried getting my wife to buy a Highlander. Her lease was up on her MDX in Sept. She wound up buying her MDX. The Highlander seems every bit as nice as the MDX.

Mine is a Trail Premium w/out KDSS, given the TRD Pro look.

As I found it:

As your truck is pulling up that driveway, it is seriously crying some big tear drops:D
