Guess the repair estimate

2006 Nissan Murano. My pool guy came in a little close into my driveway and scraped my SUV yesterday. I was a little shocked at the estimate I got today.

$2,500?

If you can get cashed out, a bumper repair guy could do a good job for $200-300.

Standard pricing should be around $450.00 for that, but since you were shocked, I'm going to say $800?

My wife has done a few of these.......I buy the bumper cover color matched off Ebay for about $325 and install myself......Honda dealer wanted $800 + labor for a front very similar to this one.......

I burn the damaged one on the back 40 when I burn brush........Not a way to make friends with Tree Huggers....

Some rubbing compound, a bit of touch up paint, and that's all I'd do....probably not even notice it after that....YMMV.

Most body shops have become parts changers whenever possible so I expect they quoted a new bumper cover, at a minimum, and probably even more unnecessary parts than that. Throw in labor, paint and "shop supplies" and a number north of $1,500, while ridiculous, is certainly possible. And if your estimate is from a dealer, using only authorized Nissan parts, two-grand is not out of the question.

27$ 19.99 for some touch up paint, 3.99 for rubbing compoind the rest for shipping/tax/amortized amazon prime fees

if it wasnt a 10 year old commuter car and you wanted it perfect I would say 1200 total: 400$ bumper cover + $400 paint +$400 fitting

I just paid $700 to replace a bumper on a Dodge car that had a big cut in it. By the time a shop pads the bill with increased cost due to insurance and "blending" other panels you're probably around 1200 to 1400 though I'd guess.
