prewar racing
Anyone here do prewar racing? I have been doing some reading and it looks like a blast without getting stupid fast thanks to the skinny tires. That, and the hardware is really basic which appeals to me.
A lot of the early cars seem to be production type chassis with a custom coachwork. Model T stuff hardware (running gear) is pretty cheap (several thousand) and core motor stuff is reasonable too.Even if you went early flat head V8 (your talking 65 hp). Well, compared to a Porsche build anything is cheap :D. So what I can't seem to find written anywhere is if I were to pick up running gear, add an engine, then build a single seat body work if that would be accepted of if its a historical only kinda thing. Thanks in advance! |
Don't know hardly anything about it, but there are clubs for it. Several years ago, I was out toward the desert east of here at the foot of the mountains. A bunch of stipped down Model A's came down the hill. I got to talk to one of the owner/drivers but don't remember much except they were open, two seat, bare bodied without doors. The guy told me they only had two forward gears. Looked like a lot of fun.
