Elissa And Her dig·ni·ty
My very complex daughter, Elissa Hase, received a pint of blood yesterday. The doctors believe that it is from bone marrow not replenishing itself from her being so sick. They are going to do a CT of her stomach and another CT of her head again for possible bleeding too.
They are changing antibiotics once again to a new one she has not tried to fight her resistant Pseudomonas. Good news is that she has been cleared of CDEF infection for her intestines. She is is still on BiPAP at night and oxygen. White cell count is 49,000 which is overly high. She is still fighting infections. GOOD NEWS. .... SHE IS NOT GROWING ANYMORE. .. MRSA, Aspergillus, MAC, Acinetobacter, ONLY GROWING resistant strains of Pseudomonas. Another day ....... another week ! Day 45 That was 2 days ago ..... Today White cell count 30k and no fever for 24 hours now. At least 21 more days in the hospital. Tonight I got a pic of her walking the halls looking for some food. Big smile here. Now from Elissa....Dignity is hard to define until you lose every last trace of it. 1 iv in each arm, Bed pan, Bed side toilet chair, Maturity Disposable Underwear. Her team of Doctors are at least talking of eventually sending her home. |
Glad to hear she is doing better. Remind her that dignity is derived from fighting a good fight, not by how we go potty. Tell her we are all rooting for her! Play some of the music from Rocky and tell her that everyone loves a tough chick. I know I do.

she is in my thoughts. stay heroic.

She's a tough cookie, that's for sure. I am so happy to hear that she's up and about look for food. Soon enough, she will be home with you guys laughing and eating a great meal at the dinning table.

Probiotics are going to be a must, and will help to build up her recovery.

Baby steps Gary, but you are headed in the right direction!
|
Glad to hear it.
I can only imagine the hell you have been through since before Christmas. |
Great news. Damn she is a trooper. A lot of today's youth could learn a lesson from this young lady on what is really important in life.
|
Keep chugging along Elissa !

Strong dad and stronger daughter. All the best |
Sending up a couple prayers for your family

Glad she is making progress.
Do everything you can to keep her room clean. I'd be wiping everything (handles, surfaces, etc) down with something that kills C. Difficile (e.g. diluted bleach, see CDC - C diff Q and As - HAI ) multiple times/day and making sure every nurse or doctor puts on clean gloves when entering. The last thing she needs is to be reinfected, which happens a lot. Antibiotic resistant infections are a huge and growing issue. We are running out of effective antibiotics. |
Mate... that's good news. A little something left the post office today for her.
|
Good to hear about her progress!
