Question For The Mechanics: Rear Wheel Bearing Replacement

Gals and Guys - On my daily driven 1988 Mazda 323 GT (245,000 miles), I recently replaced the rear wheel bearings - both sides. It went smoothly and one side is perfect while the right is certainly more audible at low speeds and when loaded like taking a corner quickly.

I decided to dismantle everything tonight and I discovered that the spindle had "burn" marks on the surface and also on the bearing as well. The spindle is fortunately not damaged and I am positive I can take some sand paper to remove the burn / friction marks. I would appreciate any thoughts and advice as to why this happened and hoping its a bearing tolerance issue? I ordered a new set of bearings tonight.

Thanks!!

I think the bearing spun.

If I do rear wheel bearing and it's not a snug fit I put some green Loctite on the ID of the bearing.

Yours will be fine, clean it up with Scothbrite.
